Hasn't it been this way for years? I went to the original Capital Radio Jazz Festival at Alexandra Palace - very late 70s or early 80s. BB King and Chuck Berry were among the headliners. When it transferred to Knebworth I saw Jimmy Cliff and the Average White Band. Plenty of jazz as well (Lionel Hampton, Benny Goodman, Dave Brubek) but always a few bigger name mainstream acts.

Personally, I think it has done a pretty good job of sorting out something that was originally pretty horrific. Hats off to AI on this occasion. Still wouldn't want to perform it!

I don't know if singers do need a break as I'm not one, but I'm not a fan of the break. Lose momentum, lose punters, and as a non-drinker/non-smoker what do you do for 15-20 minutes in a busy pub where you only know you band mates?

I'm with the above two posts. As with Cat Burrito, I struggled with singing and playing, mostly around rhythms. Couldn't get the "rolling" response in Proud Mary, so singer suggested we flip, me doing the call, him the response. Sounds like your fellow is not a team player.

Ever heard of The Wrecking Crew? So many 1960s hits were not recorded by the guys in the band, including a lot of the Beach Boys material. If you haven't then there's quite a good documentary to take a look at. Should make you feel way better!

Yes, they should. I bought fender licensed jazz neck and Mighty-Mite P Bass body from a US supplier who sells them as interchangeable.
