Surprised the roadcrew didn't do the same with this one. Get in up long, narrow gangway, then of course, get out was at low tide, so all the way up once again.

Water Rats Kings Cross. Red Route, ULEZ, parking meters that charge more for vans, and having to get the gear back through the pub which starts getting busy late at night when the gig is over. Did hear a very funny story about getting a hammond b3 on and off the Renfrew Ferry 😮

Happy to say my Nordstrand P5 pickup seems to work well enough.

Live in New Orleans was our go to album in the record shop I worked in. On Sunday morning if we hadn't sold something in the first hour this would go on - absolute certainty that someone would come up, ask what we were playing and shell out full price for a double album!

Bit tenuous but...

Lovely. And all credit to his songwriting - everything he wrote has a lovely feel.

Saddle alignment? Naahh..... why bother?

Which 4 string neck for a mainly 5 string player
Mykesbass replied to Mykesbass's topic in Bass Guitars
I must admit, my muscle memory is pretty much rooted in 5 string, but I have played very little on the 4 so far. Had to think a lot harder, but it was the physical effort that I think is going to be the longer term proble. Thanks for the insight though. -
Which 4 string neck for a mainly 5 string player

So am I correct in reading this as you are more comfortable with the low E being your second string in? Perhaps I should go BEAD as even in this new project (as I don't go particularly high on any of the songs). -
Which 4 string neck for a mainly 5 string player
Mykesbass replied to Mykesbass's topic in Bass Guitars
Thanks @therealting - so either depth or width should compensate. Better get out there and try a few necks as this skinny Jazz one isn't going to be right for me I feel. -
I've just started playing four string in a project - an all US parts built P bass with a Jazz neck, and am wondering if I should swap to a Precision neck as I found after about four songs my left hand was tiring. The five string I have is a fretless with a Jazz profile, so I like the shallow but wide feel. Would a deeper )P style) profile help compensate for the lack of width of the four string neck? Thanks. Mike.

Not a hit, but...

Try posting in the build section - you'll get much more interest in this post from the friendly bunch over there: https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/15-build-diaries/ and more advice and opinions than you can shake a stick at! Personally, I don't like the feel of open pore styles - shame as they are a feature of every Ibanez I've ever liked the look of.

Memorable gigs of the year played/attended

1. Most memorable (for good reasons) gig played: This Friday - Emsworth Music Club. Still bedding in as a band, but we were great, really nice audience, they all paid to get in and we mad a nice bit of money (by pub band standards). 2. Most memorable (for bad reasons) gig played: Rock & Roll band I joined for a short time. Did 4 gigs across two days at the Birmingham Jazz Festival. First one was outdoors, in the rain in a shopping centre, with some very odd types knocking about. And/or 3. Most memorable (for good reasons) gig attended: Tedeschi Trucks at the London Palladium. Best sound ever, and up in my top three gigs of all time. 4. Most memorable (for bad reasons) gig attended: Fortunately, none. -

This ^ My old band used to do this - heartbreaking how relevant it still is. -

Getting back to the Short 12 Bar, no never heard that, but understand what you are describing. If anything, a short walk. I'd suggest he takes a long one, off a short pier!
