  1. Don't apologise, that's why I asked. Will listen again paying attention to those to see if that's where it is coming from. Thanks.
  2. Had this on in the car and was really grabbed by the feel of this track. Can't work out what is making this such a tasty groove? Pretty sure it is mainly down to the drummer, but what is making it special? (of course you are welcome to disagree that it is)!!
  3. Suggest you do Stevie Wonder's excellent cover of it 🤨
  4. I had one of these when I had my guitar shop. Put Picato flats on. End pins fine, but the nut needed re-cutting.Sounded so much better with them on.
  5. Great musicians on the show. Had the pleasure of working with Tommy Blaize when we were both much younger. Great singer and pianist and wonderful person to go with it.
  6. Yes, but pretty sure this was the (cherry red) 12" version.
  7. Oh my word, that's stunning!
  8. OK, I'll follow up, with something completely different - a 1980s Liverpool pop song which I don't think even bothered the Liverpool indie charts, let alone the main one, despite a Peel session.
  9. They don't produce enough heat, but can create enough to be a problem. My Yamaha used to be fine until the end of th enight. If I switched it off and then needed it (for heaven forbid an encore) then it wouldn't power back up.
  10. This. I did have an overheating problem on a very early Yamaha, but later class d from both Carvin and Genzler have never missed a beat (and the Genzler once got a hideous thrashing from a headline act that used it with the settings all wrong). I took the Yamaha to 3 reputable techs and all said the same - nothing serviceable inside at all.
  11. So glad to finally see someone who agrees with me on this song. The longer it goes on...
  12. As noted by @Cetera - not the first. Up (or rather down) there with Your a Quizzard Harry I'm afraid 😣
  13. Possibly Paulowina? Lots of cheap bass bodies made from this being sold. Very light, but very soft, so prone to dents. Looks nice.
  14. Isn't basswood's main charecteristic no grain? That looks far too interesting to me, but I'm not an expert.
  15. Don't worry @Newfoundfreedom, this is not just a band thing. Even with something far less important, and no copyright worries people have problems coming up with names. I run a few charity pub quizzes and asking people (not regular quizzers) for a team name is like swimming through mud. The worst is when someone thinks of something stunningly original (like Norfolk n' Chance) 😒
  16. Have a look on his Facebook page - I was browsing just out of curiosity. Looks like good news!
  17. It's not just the money. If you are playing in a covers band you should really be happy to play crowd pleasers. Nothing like playing to an enthusiastic audience, and without a fanbase you are not going to get that with an esoteric collection of obscure back catalogue.
  18. I tried the Guild a couple of years back and really didn't feel any major difference with the short scale. But then I might just be plain weird!
  19. Yes, thanks Pete. Will get the calipers out tomorrow.
  20. No Thanks Single cuts, gold hardware, natural finish (not fancy woods, but the 70's Fender that looks like a work top) pointy basses. Yes Please Anything that takes my fancy that isn't in the above (easily pleased)!
  21. I've just gone and confused myself on various spares websites looking for machine heads. I'm going for Scaller - had good experience with them in the past, but do I need BM or BMF for a standard Fender sytle headstock? This is a Mighty Mite licensed neck, and | need to upgrade the ones I got with the kit that I built. Thanks, Mike
