  1. 1. Most memorable (for good reasons) gig played: This Friday - Emsworth Music Club. Still bedding in as a band, but we were great, really nice audience, they all paid to get in and we mad a nice bit of money (by pub band standards). 2. Most memorable (for bad reasons) gig played: Rock & Roll band I joined for a short time. Did 4 gigs across two days at the Birmingham Jazz Festival. First one was outdoors, in the rain in a shopping centre, with some very odd types knocking about. And/or 3. Most memorable (for good reasons) gig attended: Tedeschi Trucks at the London Palladium. Best sound ever, and up in my top three gigs of all time. 4. Most memorable (for bad reasons) gig attended: Fortunately, none.
  2. This ^ My old band used to do this - heartbreaking how relevant it still is.
  3. Kent Armstrong Vintage Alnico P Bass pickup was in my BYO parts build but I've just replaced with a Quarter Pounder. Nice pickup at budget price. Price includes postage.
  4. Getting back to the Short 12 Bar, no never heard that, but understand what you are describing. If anything, a short walk. I'd suggest he takes a long one, off a short pier!
  5. Same drummer too. Would be great to hear his un quantised version.
  6. Yes, hit and miss for me.
  7. New genre, Motown Metal!! But yes, thanks and @Linus27, for this. Makes a lot of sense.
  8. Don't apologise, that's why I asked. Will listen again paying attention to those to see if that's where it is coming from. Thanks.
  9. Had this on in the car and was really grabbed by the feel of this track. Can't work out what is making this such a tasty groove? Pretty sure it is mainly down to the drummer, but what is making it special? (of course you are welcome to disagree that it is)!!
  10. Suggest you do Stevie Wonder's excellent cover of it 🤨
  11. I had one of these when I had my guitar shop. Put Picato flats on. End pins fine, but the nut needed re-cutting.Sounded so much better with them on.
  12. Great musicians on the show. Had the pleasure of working with Tommy Blaize when we were both much younger. Great singer and pianist and wonderful person to go with it.
  13. Yes, but pretty sure this was the (cherry red) 12" version.
  14. Oh my word, that's stunning!
  15. OK, I'll follow up, with something completely different - a 1980s Liverpool pop song which I don't think even bothered the Liverpool indie charts, let alone the main one, despite a Peel session.
  16. They don't produce enough heat, but can create enough to be a problem. My Yamaha used to be fine until the end of th enight. If I switched it off and then needed it (for heaven forbid an encore) then it wouldn't power back up.
  17. This. I did have an overheating problem on a very early Yamaha, but later class d from both Carvin and Genzler have never missed a beat (and the Genzler once got a hideous thrashing from a headline act that used it with the settings all wrong). I took the Yamaha to 3 reputable techs and all said the same - nothing serviceable inside at all.
  18. So glad to finally see someone who agrees with me on this song. The longer it goes on...
  19. As noted by @Cetera - not the first. Up (or rather down) there with Your a Quizzard Harry I'm afraid 😣
  20. Pedant alert: Melancholic Platypus
  21. Possibly Paulowina? Lots of cheap bass bodies made from this being sold. Very light, but very soft, so prone to dents. Looks nice.
  22. Isn't basswood's main charecteristic no grain? That looks far too interesting to me, but I'm not an expert.
