  1. I felt really bad leaving my last band - great bunch, loved the music and attitude, however, the singer was becoming less and less available, lead guitarist who was really the band leader was getting frustrated and the gigs were drying up. I had started a new band, so told them I was going to have to call it a day, at which point everyone else seemed to agree, and the band more or less folded there and then. Was a very sad moment.
  2. Just realised that my tiny collection of three has, significantly, overtaken my number of guitars, having sold a skinny stringer to acquire the latest bass. No looking back now!
  3. There have been a lot of cases of fake DRs reported in the past - were your bought from a trusted source?
  4. What I like about my local music shop is the owner's tales of impossible customers. Latest one was a guy who wanted an ocarina. When told he didn't stick them the punter got quite shirty, and said something along the lines of "not much of a music shop then". Owner said he'd been asked for one once before - about 30 years ago. The guy in all seriousness said "well you should have learnt your lesson then". Hmm, New, old stock ocarina anyone?!
  5. One for the famous quotes thread surely? 😄 Congrats Andy, well deserved.
  6. Why, what's the mattock with them?
  7. My brother taught music a couple of years back in a school in south London. Hardly a guitar in sight but lots of enthusiastic musicians.
  8. Just snuck up to 3. Shuker 5 string fretless P/Tele - main gigging bass. Build Your Own Bass seafoam green 4 string precision - bit of fun parts build project. Cort GB55 JJ metallic seafoam green 5 string Jazz bass - back up for gigging as I'm off on tour, so thought I'd go for something the complete opposite to the Shuker.
  9. Played that about 5 years ago - was the polar opposite, weather wise to this year. Sid Griffin was on after us, just as the thunder and lightning started, and everyone, apart from about 5 complete lunatics had retired to listen from their tents! Lovely bunch of people organising though.
  10. I guess not many other bands do Bob Dylan's Hurricane - so many verses, so my old band just dropped that particular one!
  11. Remember that one - that was the first time out wasn't it Pete? Had to post a couple of Celestions to Texas from the tiny little post office for Buddy!
  12. Yes. I tour managed Buddy's first UK tours and promoted the album. Pete put the band together for me. Both of them great players, and lovely people.
  13. His UK bass player is none to shabby either @mybass 😎
  14. Tedeschi Trucks - take the Blues and do all sorts of weird and wonderful things with it.
  15. Yep, pretty much in the same boat, and with a very considerate drummer (no, back off, nothing to see here...)
  16. Yes, thanks gents, I'll be doing this at the weekend. Still a bit puzzled by the design flaw though!
  17. Was that July last year then? Didn't look that closely.
  18. Well the Facebook page shows they are still active - https://www.facebook.com/Picato-Musicians-Strings-163194437126796/ I had a set - great price, great sound. Only complaint was that I found the winding started to peel very slightly, leaving some flaky patches.
  19. Looked it up, 15kg, and most of that at the back. I'll have another good look tonight, but pretty sure there is no obvious fixing at the back.
  20. Hadn't thought of that, but very valid point (although the amp seems pretty well engineered in that department with plenty of hex fastenings).
  21. Very much this. The early digital revolution sounds very poor in retrospect. Dire Straits Brothers in Arms sounds terribly dated whereas Communique and Dire Straits both still sound great to my ears.
