1.
What exactly is a Greasbucket loom? Is this a more 70's style loom than a normal loom? Only reason i ask is that im about to undertake a very similar 70's P Bass bitsa project and will be using one of Kiogons wiring looms but was just going to ask for the normal one, didnt realise there were variants. Sorry to hijack, have a free bump for a delicious bass
Fender's Grease Bucket is basically a couple of extra components in the tone circuit which in my interpretation, prevents the bottom end getting 'muddy or mushy'. Google it for Fender's own words.
 2. You'd have to ask Fender Serial numbers, neck pocket & neck markings, pot codes, pick up numbers, part numbers/bar code labels, paint code stamps, notes/scribbles in the pick up cavity or controls routing, sometimes date etc. underside of pick guard, it all helps. The more info you can find the better, unfortunately not much can be seen without a complete strip down. Cheerz, John
 3. That's loverly, well documented & completely original, I don't see it being anything other than "as advertised" Think I'll 'make an offer' Joe's Long - he must have been the original Red Hot Chilli Pepper
 4. I had a Tanglewood Odyssey, budget bass, well made & finished, look great - played OK. Pay a bit more & get better if you can
 5. Doesn't matter if your pet is a rat or a cat, a koi or a canary, a dog or a snake, it's a part of you & when it has to go - it hurts. I hope you can find a way to keep your lovely bass but in the end, it's only wood & strings & things, it won't love you Cheerz, John
 6.
MB1. Looks like the neckplate hasnt yet been fitted? is it not sat on top of the old one? or is it? ....just an illusion?(imagine)
Now that's a pissobility
 7. For a guy who's so good at building custom basses you would think he could manage the right screws to hold the thing together - photo 4 ! http://www.ebay.co.u...1b#ht_500wt_950 Anybody local that could go test it? A gentle tap on the back of the head should do the job (the bass not the builder) although
 8. Are you sure it wasn't the holiday? or is it home brew beer?
 9. I supplied a P-bass wiring kit to Paul, it was a pleasure to deal with him throughout, no problems, a great & easy transaction. Cheerz, John

I've been looking for a red P for a while, (I think it's the Duck in me) couldn't believe my luck when this little beauty fell into my hands It needed a clean up, new jack socket, strings & a set-up, now it's P-perfect, unbelievably good to play, wonderful neck, only 8&1/2lbs & just feels so comfortable, it's like getting into bed with your dream girl/boy in satin silk sheets 100% original except for the new Switchcraft, Straploks & strings, I don't believe it had ever been apart & probably the factory fitted strings on Talk about coincidence, lifted the pick guard & the date stamp on it is June 06 2003, exactly 9 years to the day I bought it! Anyway, took it out in the sun for some photo's today It's still a bit shiny after me polishing it up, but it's that lovely Satin Nitro finish, Crimson Red Transparent #38.

 14. Bit of a bargain!
 15.
Ha! Best post for a long while!
I thank yew, glad it wasn't wasted
 16. Actually listening to the guy 'tapping' Stairway to Heaven aggravates me because I hear a lot of missing bass line, what's the point of trying to be clever - on a bass - & not playing the bass part 'properly' (as I expect to hear it). I have to say Fret w***er extraordinaire
 17.
Is this in a similar vein?
You could say that Muff on bass
 18. I would fancy that if it was fretless GLWTS
 19. I can't see any mention above of DiMarzio's I reckon a DP127 might just give you exactly what sound you're searching for, I replaced the Fender original in my '57AV, which had the raised A poles, fitted the DP127W & wouldn't go back. They have a range & clarity I've not found with anything else. It compliments the maple neck brightness, I'm sure it would be slightly more mellow with a rosewood board. I thought of replacing the '62AV original with a black one, but the '62 tone is actually 'just right' for me. I'm using GHS precision flats on both P's BTW & LB30 rig, the Bass Shift switch gives a quick change from deep down old school Jamerson to more 80's hard rock . I play fingers mostly, with a very low action, experiment with picks at times though http://www.thomann.de/gb/dimarzio_dp127_wh.htm Not expensive for what you get IMO & so much sweeter than the SD 1/4lb. Cheerz, John
 20.
KiOgon thanks, nice suggestion. Love your avatar pic, my hero!
I first tried a AV2H whatever in my local shop & was well impressed, even at £400 +, I couldn't get a Fender thinline at the time. Then I searched around & found them for less than 1/2 shop price, bit of a bargain if you can find one cheap like The Humbuckers & the roll off to single coil makes them very versatile & IMO knock spots off a Squier. Edit: There's one http://www.dv247.com...-b-stock--94579 Another one: http://www.gear4music.com/Guitar-and-Bass/DISC-Vintage-Advance-AV2H-Electric-Guitar-NFM/7ED Lot more money but it's got some spec & a foto
 21. I've got a Vintage AV2 'thinline tele' & it's excellent, not that I'm an expert but IMO it's a lovely thing for notalot of squids http://www.jhs.co.uk/Catalogue/Guitars/vintageadv_2010_web.pdf
 22.
If it is the same place [and it does sound like it] Yes in 1992. Garry
Small world I was a Regional Engineer, BWI, with Cable & Wireless. Cayman was fabulous, I used to spend as long there as I could get away with diving/swimming/fishing/messing about on boats every day
 23.
Is that the same place as the Old Durty Reid's Palace ? I think it got knocked down, or something rebuilt there. Sounds like fun with the sharks though. Garry
Yes that's probably what it was called, I'm talking about early 1990s, I remember it was out of town on the way up East I think. Used to go & watch big screen sports at weekends with platters of burgers & ice cold beers, it was a hard job I've got some old maps & stuff I'll dig out. Have you been there?
 24.
thats what i thought wehen i first saw them but they are dolphins - peale's i believe http://www.flickr.co...ard/5512090728/ - they do have killer whales out there but i guess the whales only come in that close if there is a tasty seal snack at the waters edge
I sit corrected When I worked in Cayman it was great fun feeding chicken carcasses from the beach to the sharks that came in every evening for the ritual, out the back of Dirty Reid's cafe
