  1. CaCO3 it's all the same, some may be finer ground, Shake and Vac has been suggested here!
  2. Caveat emptor mon suet! The shop may not have known, even the previous owner may not. Unless sold specifically as stock/unmodified, not a lot you can do really. Could try having a word with the shop/seller but - - - Yes they're different pick ups, does it play OK? have you looked underneath them?
  3. A simple way to try "bypass" on any bass, all passive, 2 tone caps to choose or bypass and a kill, in one switch.
  4. Sounds like some new sort of commode to me, might be useful 😎
  5. Made in Japan = best ever live recording, will never be beaten IMHO 😎 When the bass comes in on SOTW it's enough to blow your speaker's bollx off 🤯
  6. Far from ignoring you, I appreciate feedback like that. If it is difficult for 'mr average', (apologies), to do something and I can make it easier then I will, you're probably not the only one 😃
  7. If getting 2 wires in 1 connector is a problem, I can always fit a extra terminal for earth/shielding wires? Let me know please 👍
  8. When your bass isn't delivering the sounds you want and was put together saving every penny possible on components and the lack of skilled workers? That's only around christmas and special holidays when my elves come and help in my man cave 🧚‍♂️ You might get a kit mounted on part of a cardbord box that used to contain a magic liquid, that's what he means 😄 He's only my half twin 👱‍♂️ Different is working properly, as it should 👍
  9. I assume you are asking about the video? @gary mac
  10. If the modified nut was filed properly, with round edge files, then there's a chance the smaller strings will settle into the bottom of their slots OK without moving about too much or even noticeably. Try it! As said if you do like the smaller rounds then get a new nut to make it right.
  11. Chris ordered a loom, great comms and instant payment, proper gent and a pleasure to deal with. CHeerz, John
  12. Gerry ordered a P/J loom, a real gent and a pleasure to deal with, proper basschatter😎 Cheerz, John
  13. Thanks a million for that Gary, I'm pleased you like it, the video is great, sounds better live of course, I know! Earphones or PC speakers can only do so much 🔊 Good you're leaving it in your lovely P, I hope you get some live action with it soon, see what the rest of the band think, especially in B mode 😎 Cheerz, John
  14. Not all 'grub screw knobs' fit 1/4" shafts, the internal measurement needs to be 1/4" 😄 some are for 6mm shafts.
  15. Which do you want? CTS full size pots come in either 6mm splined or 1/4" round shafts. The Bourns pots are 6mm splined only.
  16. Have a look at my kits, all with screw terminals for your pick ups, bridge earth and any screening wires.
  17. £1.27 too much? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Imperial-Short-Arm-Allen-Keys-Hex-Wrench-Hexagon-Key-1-16-3-8/372382769444?hash=item56b3be2124:m:mVJfjnRfc68Xt_DyRah0lxA No connection, I'm sure other sellers are available Cheerz, John
  18. I made a custom switched jazz plate for Zak, great guy to deal with, it took a while to get there but he was patient and it turned up on his doorstep in the end! Deal with confidence 😎 Cheerz, John
  19. No link between tone pots required have a look at this drawing. Leave out the switch by joining the red and blue wires shown straight to the jack. John https://guitarelectronics.com/2-humbuckers-3-way-toggle-switch-2-volumes-2-tones/
  20. Before fitting flats, get a cotton pad with IPA or Surgical Spirits, even Meths and rub all the crap off before fitting, Mostly machine oils from the manufacturing process, but they'll feel a whole lot better, so will your fingers.
  21. If it was me, I would replace the plastic socket with a standard stereo Switchcraft, wired to the PCB. Job done and it would probably almost certainly outlast another MM plastic job.
  22. I'm a great believer in matching strings to the neck, nut width and some extent bridge spacing. For example I love the GHS Precision Flats on a P bass, old style wide neck, not on a skinny P or Jazz neck. Great strings - in the right application IMHO - tone, feel, tension and long life.
