1. I bought a de-fretted P neck for a project but it doesn't fit the body, so I'm thinking of getting it re-fretted for another. Is there anybody here that can do - or know someone? Cheerz, John
2.
Ok my kind bass friends! He admitted after "checking it" a little bit better that it actually was a Highway 1. Thanks everyone so much! PS: And buy (Or trade) my Windmill!
Silly me I thought all the Windmills were in Holland So are you buying the HW1? ATB, John
3. ^ Like!
4. Yes American Standard would have string through body & be Polyurethane gloss finish. Check the bridge, HW1 does not have the 4 holes for string through. Ask the seller for the serial number & send Fender a email for proof. With the (non standard) hardcase, chrome covers & thumbrest (not quite in the standard place), I'd say it's been modified to look like something else, but definitely a HW1. Shame about the extra string tree I've no idea what the going rate for Fenders is in Stockholm but I'd say if it's what you want, it looks in perfect condition, with the extras it's not too dear, if it plays as good as it looks Mine has barcode/0061286-950 under pickup which gives this Fender Service Diagram. 5. It's all relative, how much is a beer in Stockholm?
6.
£718.71
I must have got a better rate £720.15 xe.com
7. Highway One 2004 Logo same as mine & as already said Satin Nitro finish. BTW How much is that Pris: 8,000? in GB£?
8. That home made 'Herbert' looks great! Mustard Good job Len - far better than the 'proper' thing I had for a while http://www.log-jam.co.uk/logarhythm.html now I just use a block of wood 10x6x2" with a bit of carpet on top & wooden floorboards
9. Bought a P-bass pickguard from Andy, exactly as described & posted as arranged, 2nd time I've had the pleasure to deal with. Cheerz, John
10. So if it's a Union 'Jack' bass then will it have to be used onboard ships?
11. Don't do this at home kids - never NEVER leave a key in a chuck! Not even for a photo'!
12.
Never understood the Antigua thing at all, but then I don't understand a lot of things...
Me neither I worked there (Antigua) & it was a shithole but never understood why the Antigua link
13. There seems to be some bargains to be had this weekend, I've been looking at the American Specials - what are they like? Edit: I really really need some Candy Apple Red
14. Frank Bello Bass = P-neck + J-body + P/J pickups, best of everything
15. He did or still has indeed, http://basschat.co.uk/topic/117779-herbie-flowers-jazz-bass-replica/ I was just reading it again
16.
Herbie's is autumn of '59, oldest one I've ever heard of (he paid well over the odds for it as well $79!).
Here's a very interesting article & wonderful photo's of Herbie's Jazz http://curtisnovak.com/vintage/JazzBass59/ Cheerz, John
17. It ended with no bids 1/2 hr before your post! I've seen it before quite recently - there's probably an earlier thread about it. Try a search
18. The socket pictured is most likely a 'stereo' type but used as mono output the 2nd contact is generally used to switch the battery circuit on when a mono jack is inserted. If you use a stereo jack plug it probably doesn't make the contacts properly, could even be putting the - negative side of the battery to your amp, maybe worth getting the wiring in the bass checked, but for now, just ditch the stereo lead. Edit, + what Ou7shined said!
19. I reckon the jack socket is a normal mono & don't like stereo plugs does it look a normal Fender / Switchcraft type socket?
20.
As a beginner on bass 2 years ago (at 65 then), I think you youngsters need to reconsider your use of the word "old". I did consider starting an "arthritis" thread on this forum but decided against. Happy playing John
+ 1 from another John (& only 61)
21. Looks a lovely bit of spalted, reminds me of my old Skjold, which has Walnut core, personally I'd like to see a good strong hi-gloss finish on it & no pickguard
22. Has anyone tried the 220 with the mi10 cab? I'm interested in a small portable kit & something 'different' to my Little Bastard rig
23. I've never tried EUB but that looks fab-u-lous, hope it fulfils all that's required in playability & sounds. Just a slight niggle, that thumb-wheel to the demountable cross piece, that is truly horrible, surely it should have a bespoke 'knob'. Attention to detail & all that
24.
... but will it have echo location facilities?
No - Wayne will have to grow some of these:
25. Wayne - your bass is like a stream of Bat's piss - - - - - It will shine out like a shaft of gold when all around is dark
