What guitar amp for people who do not know how to work things
KiOgon replied to Owen's topic in Guitar Amplifiers
http://www.musicwarehouse.co.uk/peavey/1175-peavey-windsor-studio-guitar-amplifier.html Bargain @ £249 Yes I know it's valve I've had mine a few years & it is a great sounding amp. The big PLUS is the rear mounted Power Soak, you can set this to limit the actual output & still get all the tone If you can't stop 'em turning it up, maybe you can stop 'em looking in the back? -
My bidding strategy is to decide at an early stage how much in total I'm willing pay for any item & then keep it in my watched items list. If it's something I really fancy I might put a very low bid on, just so it's at the top of 'my eBay' page. Then approaching the final hour, I'll see where the bidding has got to, if still under my pre-set maximum then I'll watch & wait 'til the last 30 seconds before placing my bid. I will not be persuaded to increase it, there isn't time, so it's done! If I win for less than my max - I'm happy, if I loose then someone else wanted it more than me - they can have it Will power is a wonderful thing some I win - some I loose, there's always next time Cheerz, John

I think it'll have to go back to gold, I can't bring myself to drill extra holes in the body & it don't sit flat as it is I'll save it for a rainy day bass Cheerz, John

Looks legit MiJ to me, very nice too for £250 & it plays well I'd say 'you're worrying too much' only mystery to me is the scratching on the back of head

I've got a white Fender P and I'm looking at it right now imagining that lovely pearly pickguard on it. I'd keep my black p/ups tho I think.
Cheerz 'Shell
I just don't know. Was pearl ever a standard Fender guard finish (apart from Custom Shop)?
I love it, don't listen to Kaz whoever they are. Problem you have is the white hotrail pickups! Now if they were ordinary pole'd p/ups I would have gone for a contrasting black cover on them (and a black thumb rest too) cause the way things are with a white guard they sort of get lost in the big picture. Nice Ashdwon cab behind that!
I 'have to' listen to Kaz, she's my significant other - the other White Blonde in my life I was thinking maybe too much white BTW the cab is my customised Mini 48, (matching cloth & trim with the LB112).
Hmmm... it's actually the pickup covers and thumbrest I'm having the problem with! Replace the covers with black, get a black thumbrest, put it in the 57 'tug bar' position, keep the gold guard and get some ashtrays on it! Probably not what you wanted to hear...
Thanks Mark - go away
I think it looks gorgeous, much better than the gold one! Love those pickups!
Hooray! 1 like The DiMarzio is fantastic, changed because I was catching the raised A poles on the standard '57 pickup.
-
I liked the idea of loosing the excess holes for pickup cover & thumbrest that are standard on the gold, but I'd have to drill 2 holes in the body, 1 by the G string + 1 left of pots. Not keen on doing that really.

Cheerz Mark, this is it before -

By way of a change from the anodised gold, I picked up this aged Fender custom shop guard, it's a faded white pearl, Kaz doesn't like it & now I'm not sure, What do you think? I haven't finished fitting it yet, it needs trimming & a couple of extra holes, which I'm not so sure about.
-
Bastards! Hope they get caught & most of all hope the Duck comes back to you. Good luck, John

You can coat the sides of the slots with a 2 part epoxy like Araldite, when dry run correct size file through, job's a good'n

Easy sale to Jay, he saw some strings I advertised, he PM'd, he paid, I got money, he got strings, we're all happy! No trouble, a pleasure to deal with, recommended Cheerz, John

1973 Earls Court, I was there & can probably dig out some more details, if I can get my brain to work again I have a bootleg, Tour 73 bought from Roger & Dave in the foyer! Those concerts were the first DSOM in full & where the recordings were made IIRC. We had a coach *TRIP* from our local pub, about 50 of us went, can't remember quite how many came home but it was most excellent

1969 Fender Precision, does it look kosher?
KiOgon replied to Bassman Rich's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
B is 1.625" (not 1.5") isn't it? Otherwise I agree.
I beg you pardon, typing error you are absolutely right of course Edit: I'll edit my post! Edit 2: Agree with all above! -
Looks like the one which the straps Fender supply with the American Vintage '57 & '62 models are based on

1969 Fender Precision, does it look kosher?
KiOgon replied to Bassman Rich's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
I personally wouldn't dream of paying that much 'starting bid even!' for a bass from ebay without some decent provenance. The stated "green ink proves nothing except 5 is a Precision neck & B is 1.625" nut. Photo's of date code on pots may help + if there's any info on the body in the neck pocket or cavities. Neck plates 'like that' are easily available on ebay, BTW that checks out as 1970 on guitardaterproject.org I'm not an expert & not saying it's fake or genuine, just my opinion, it's a lot for a chance buy. Edit: Nut size corrected.
