If £20 is all you want to spend you can get 'Tesco Value' pickups if you want 'Quality' pickups you have to pay more What can you expect for £10 each? Just my opinion. John

If it was me - I'd get in touch with Status first call, Fender P's are certainly 34" 'long scale' so you shouldn't have a problem. They'll sort you out I'm sure. Cheerz, John

Thanks for that, was the old 'Made in Japan' consistently both upper & lower case then? Possibly a date of change to all Caps could be established? Does this also mean the 08.11.20 [b][i]is[/i][/b] a date stamp & maybe common to find on these? Therefore a easy way of more accurate dating? Cheerz, John

Pro luthier job to get the best possible repair to the outside, then I'd get a sheet of carbon fibre & resin a couple of layers over the inside before re-fitting the pots.

Do a search for Gramma pad, that will provide some insulation.

Pleased to have found this thread, I'm havin a bit of bother dating my MiJ '51 P, bought from Old Horse Murphy - Nick a long time ago, as a 94/95 manufactured, which I've always believed , (so did Nick), & has checked out on every website I've tried. Having spoken to Nick it seems he was told the same when he bought it from a well known guitar/amp/keyboard shop in Brighton almost 3 years ago. Now I've fitted new strings & decided to give it a good set-up, I've removed the neck & found what I have to assume is date stamp! So what do you think? I wouldn't want to deal with your 'local guitar shop' if he thinks that's a complicated job God help us! The .022uF cap is probably meant for a guitar circuit but you can use it & listen - if you don't like the tone change it for the .1uF or a .047. What pots have you got? They're more important Cheerz, John
