http://www.maplin.co...er-supply-42702
That'll never power it, taken from a review:- " Let me start by saying that the Alpine MRP M350 is a good amplifier. However, the reported power rating of 700 watts is misleading. While it was possible to generate the 700 watts they claimed, this was at a distortion level in excess of 45%. Also, the power was achieved by drawing nearly 60 amps of current and which was only possible after replacing the included fuses with fuses rated at 50% more current capacity. Basically, this is a nice marketing number is an unrealistic and a unusable specification." I don't think you'll get a useful sound from a bass guitar with that setup but worth a try I suppose, can you rig up a car battery for testing? In fact the more of the review I read the more bullshit is evident & yes as said above you'll need a pre-amp before the power amp. 2. GHS Black Nylons - beautiful on acoustics If you're interested in some 2nd hand, I think I've got a spare set in my box! Cheerz, John
3. Derrey bought a Jazz pick up from me, excellent comms & instant payment, no problems at all. A straight forward sale, a true gent & a real pleasure to deal with, highly recommended. Looking forward to hearing you get the right result from your fretless Derrey, plenty of mwaaah Cheerz, John
4. I'm only joking, check the smilies Mind you - the head is the wrong shape & the lettering upside down but don't let that put you off
5. Looks like a copy where's John Hall when you need him?
6. Apologies then - [s]my mistake![/s] Edit: Although not actually a mistake - it was a question not a statement
7. I have used a piece of Butyl pond liner, actually a sample piece (sent out free by manufacturers for the asking) rolled up like a cigar or sausage to fit under the strings.
8. Serial number too! That checks out on guitardater as pukka! Blatant rip off, how can these not be pulled like Ric's?
9.
Think I'll always prefer flats myself, but I do keep one bass strung with roundwounds - DR Nickel Lo-Riders, which I find in tone & tension to be a good halfway house. Going from a flats perspective, for a more contemporary tone, I like Sadowsky black label flats. Great feel, lot of presence & mids... I've had a set on my Shergold for over a month now, they've just settled in - not thumpy oldschool, more in the vein of TI's but with sensible tension - georgeous strings.
^^ Aren't Sadowsky strings re-badged GHS? My favourite long time have been GHS Precision Flats, got them on my 'best P's. Just trying TI Jazz Flats, first time I've had a new set, they're certainly lovely tension & soft/flexible but a bit on the bright side - even, dare I say a bit tinny - I'm sure they'll improve with use & when the neck has settled & been tweaked Cheerz, John
10. Sold some strings to Andrew, great communication, instant payment, a gent & a real pleasure to deal with, highly recommended Cheerz, John

12. Sorry to hear they won't fit through but you can top mount them on a Badass can't you? Cheerz, John
13. Thought I'd let you know - they do fit - JUST JF344s arrived today, good service from Stringbusters (again), fitted through body on to my '51P with just enough clearance, about 3mm from the nut to the silk on E string. They easily fitted through the bridge & body, no problem going over the bridge, they're so much more pliable than some I could mention. Of course they're a bit smaller gauge than I'm used to so they feel a bit 'girlie' at first but might need a 1/4 turn off the truss rod, when the neck settles, it's a bit too flat at the moment They do suit the '51 well though, I pondered fitting them on my '62 but the're more suited to the B neck & not the C I reckon. 16. So is it for sale here at the same price as on ebay? That's not playing the game is it? If you're just advertising your ebay ad this should be in the ebay links not in this forum.
17. Welcome to the machine, yes it's nice here how's Malaysia? Cheerz, John
18. There you go see VOX might not have ever been famous if I hadn't worked for them Good luck, a mate of mine is working as a PW in the industry, away from home all week in B&B but gets a damn good wedge. ATB, John
19. Thanks to you I used to be a prototype wireman in a previous world, worked for Vox a while, late 60's/70's, mostly on the amps & organs. That looks some nice neat work from you, good luck with your sales, these days I have no need for anything bigger than my Ashdown 30 watt Little Bastard. That has oodles of old school noises pouring out of it Cheerz, John
20.
Hi guys, I'm selling these amps, if you have any questions, please email me: riba2233 @ yahoo.com I can lower the price, of course. Thanks, Jakov
If you're selling them - you need to state a price - forum rules ta & some pictures wouldn't go amiss Cheerz, John
21. If the OP is looking for a '79 - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Fender-Precision-Bass-1979-Vintage-Beautiful-grain-/220992558787?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item33742ed6c3#ht_500wt_950 a bit closer to home!
22.
No mention in the description of the various cracks in the neck and body. And er... the neck isn't a great fit. What's that in the neck pocket there... glue? Filler? I would err on the side of caution, to say the least... Oop... beaten to it. Hi, John!
Cougar piss I told you Hi Mark!
23. Not that cheap IMO, if you want it from USA at the BIN it's going to cost just under £800 all in. It looks genuine to me, the brass bits might put some people off & will perhaps drop the price a little, I bet he doesn't get the US$895 he's after. Edit: The crack in the neck pocket G side would put me off more than anything else, oh! apart from the Cougar piss running down the neck & the damaged strap pin holes. Nothing wrong with the decal IMO.
24. Then I looked at sellers other items - & thought wow he's sprayed them both from the same can only joking I think http://www.ebay.co.u...b#ht_1798wt_934 Woops! Look what else is on ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SHORELINE-GOLD-Graceys-Guitar-Finish-Paint-Aerosol-Spray-Can-NITRO-Project-/170700902406#ht_2893wt_700
25. In our corner shop t'other day & a guy asked me if I was Ken Whaley (one of Man's many bass players), which was nice & reminded me of this, huge sound
