I'm only joking, check the smilies Mind you - the head is the wrong shape & the lettering upside down but don't let that put you off

Looks like a copy where's John Hall when you need him?

Apologies then - [s]my mistake![/s] Edit: Although not actually a mistake - it was a question not a statement

Random foam objects and the quest for cheap mutes
KiOgon replied to dannybuoy's topic in General Discussion
I have used a piece of Butyl pond liner, actually a sample piece (sent out free by manufacturers for the asking) rolled up like a cigar or sausage to fit under the strings. -
Serial number too! That checks out on guitardater as pukka! Blatant rip off, how can these not be pulled like Ric's?
Think I'll always prefer flats myself, but I do keep one bass strung with roundwounds - DR Nickel Lo-Riders, which I find in tone & tension to be a good halfway house. Going from a flats perspective, for a more contemporary tone, I like Sadowsky black label flats. Great feel, lot of presence & mids... I've had a set on my Shergold for over a month now, they've just settled in - not thumpy oldschool, more in the vein of TI's but with sensible tension - georgeous strings.
^^ Aren't Sadowsky strings re-badged GHS? My favourite long time have been GHS Precision Flats, got them on my 'best P's. Just trying TI Jazz Flats, first time I've had a new set, they're certainly lovely tension & soft/flexible but a bit on the bright side - even, dare I say a bit tinny - I'm sure they'll improve with use & when the neck has settled & been tweaked Cheerz, John

Thought I'd let you know - they do fit - JUST JF344s arrived today, good service from Stringbusters (again), fitted through body on to my '51P with just enough clearance, about 3mm from the nut to the silk on E string. They easily fitted through the bridge & body, no problem going over the bridge, they're so much more pliable than some I could mention. Of course they're a bit smaller gauge than I'm used to so they feel a bit 'girlie' at first but might need a 1/4 turn off the truss rod, when the neck settles, it's a bit too flat at the moment They do suit the '51 well though, I pondered fitting them on my '62 but the're more suited to the B neck & not the C I reckon. Thanks to you I used to be a prototype wireman in a previous world, worked for Vox a while, late 60's/70's, mostly on the amps & organs. That looks some nice neat work from you, good luck with your sales, these days I have no need for anything bigger than my Ashdown 30 watt Little Bastard. That has oodles of old school noises pouring out of it Cheerz, John -
No mention in the description of the various cracks in the neck and body. And er... the neck isn't a great fit. What's that in the neck pocket there... glue? Filler? I would err on the side of caution, to say the least... Oop... beaten to it. Hi, John! Not that cheap IMO, if you want it from USA at the BIN it's going to cost just under £800 all in. It looks genuine to me, the brass bits might put some people off & will perhaps drop the price a little, I bet he doesn't get the US$895 he's after. Edit: The crack in the neck pocket G side would put me off more than anything else, oh! apart from the Cougar piss running down the neck & the damaged strap pin holes. Nothing wrong with the decal IMO. -
Then I looked at sellers other items - & thought wow he's sprayed them both from the same can only joking I think http://www.ebay.co.u...b#ht_1798wt_934 Woops! I bought a Tort from this guy & it fitted my Fender Mexican P very nicely, so for £12.95 I'd say they're fine/good deal/bargain. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PRECISION-BASS-SCRATCH-PLATE-Pick-Guard-USA-Mex-P-Bass-fit-8-Colours-/200740664991?pt=UK_Guitar_Accessories&var=&hash=item746d8a21c4#ht_1655wt_754 I got a custom made for my '51 P from 'The Bass Doc' as discreet above has said, if you want perfection - send Howard a PM, if you just want a scratch plate try the ebay link, they fit MiM's fine IMO, if yours is not a Fender - I dunno, sometimes the routing is different.
