1. What are the chances of pups removed from a 80's or any other P-bass ever having wires this long? 2. From those photo's I'd bet my stash & say there's no way that is a Fender body, it's just so wrong!
3. I've just had a Tuner sandwich & salad with stringy bits in it
4. 'salright if you like that sort of thing I s'pose - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - That is bloody gorgeous mate Good job Howard
5. Well done - you jammy bu663r Show us the pic then
6. Looks very similar to the Gramma - who's going to try one?
7. Guess what - it has a brother! 8. There's probably nothing wrong with the amp, has it always been like it or has something changed? If you can attenuate the input level it should be OK & I'd leave messing with the internals to someone who knows what they're doing - no disrespect to you intended - but!! - certainly no point changing type of pots from manufacturer's design. BTW The impedance of the speakers used matches the amp I assume? Cheerz, John PS There's a guy just down the road from me that does Fender amp repairs (amongst others) & while it's generally sunny here - it ain't Portugal
9.
So NOT genuine!!! 22 frets!!!! headstock been re-shaped somehow, nice enough i supose but def NOT fender!
How do you make it 22? I can only see 21 but it is only lightly reliced in mostly the wrong places It's a Fender decal - maybe
10.
So these things work on concrete floors when the speaker cab is on castors. What principle is involved here? Has anyone carried out any before/after measurements?
Yes, after measurements = your cab is approx 2.5" higher than it was before standing it on a Gramma
11. Wonderful improvement in clarity & hardly a rattle in the room! My bungalow is suspended - wooden floors all through & the sound is clearer without any reverberations throughout. So when Kaz is kooking in the kitchen, she loves me playing even more Best £42 I've spent in a long time - let's face it you can spend that on a set of strings but this will make far more difference & last for years Cheerz, John
12.
Most peoples understanding of frequency range in a room is seriously wanting, I work with 2 guys that have conversations like this.... "how does the guitar sound out front?" "it's a bit toppy" "ok I'll put some bass on it then" CLANG that's the sound of me hitting him in the face with a shovel. You need 4 things: 1. a length of straw, about 12 inches with barley attached at the end, 2. a well rehearsed west country accent 3. a small tractor. 4. a shotgun In the sound check jump on your tractor with straw in corner of mouth, drive across the stage and point the shotgun in the guitarists face, and in your best Chippenham drawl bellow... GET ORFF MOI FREQWANSEE.... If he refuses, shoot him in the face and hang him at the back of the stage as a warning to the other guitarist
Excellent
13. If you haven't got a Gramma - ? Get one under your cabs mate - It will focus your sound more than you would ever imagine Worth every penny Cheerz, John
14. I'm pleased to have seen & heard it on TV with a decent sound system 'cos it don't come across on the laptop but yes it was fabulous
15. Yep - in my '57 P, brilliant pick up - every note is crystal clear & a very full frequency range, powerful output, silent 'no noise', classy look & no pole pieces, still gives that P-bass sound though, highly recommended. 16.
I like Blur. Fair dos it wasn't the most polished of performances. What I'd really like to know tho is who here thinks Alex James is a good bass player? Obviously within the context of the whole indie/pop/rock genre, he must be considered somewhat better than his peers.
Yes I liked the Blur that was but last night's performance was BAD. Albarn might have had a few too many before the gig? Alex james is a great player but I think he's been raising kids & making cheese more than playing bass lately. His face & demeanour right from the first walk on said WTF am I doing here! When he was playing it looked he was embarrased to be on the same stage with Damon. Maybe they'll be more together for the big gig in the park?
17. Bad news - they're still playing on ITV2 Good news - they'e managed to get a bit more out of Alex's P-bass
18. They need to give that award back QUICK!
19. Here you go: Beautiful strings, my favourite by far & I've just checked mine on a P bass - there is 38"" before the silk top end, no silks at the bridge end. EDIT: Just noticed the last picture is of a Black Nylon string envelope but they're all the same length. HTH, Cheerz, John
20.
I've never seen a fake that came sealed in what looks like an official REAN bag so I'd likely go with a real bad batch. Maybe whatever is applied to the plugs during the manufacturing finishing process was not applied, causing the plug to tarnish. Maybe some liquid or cleaner touched it when you have wiped pedals down in the past that just doesn't agree with the compound of the metal? Who knows. Have you ever used any switch cleaner in the pots or sockets of any of the pedals the plug has ever been in? Stick to proper Neutrik! Or George L's for patch cable!
Sorry Shep, missed that post, no chemicals or cleaners have been used near them, they're lucky if they get a suck from the dyson once or twice a decade
