1.
I've never seen a fake that came sealed in what looks like an official REAN bag so I'd likely go with a real bad batch. Maybe whatever is applied to the plugs during the manufacturing finishing process was not applied, causing the plug to tarnish. Maybe some liquid or cleaner touched it when you have wiped pedals down in the past that just doesn't agree with the compound of the metal? Who knows. Have you ever used any switch cleaner in the pots or sockets of any of the pedals the plug has ever been in? Stick to proper Neutrik! Or George L's for patch cable!
Sorry Shep, missed that post, no chemicals or cleaners have been used near them, they're lucky if they get a suck from the dyson once or twice a decade
2. Cheerz Wrinkley, there's a Maplin about 10 miles down the road from me, not worth the petrol for a few jacks though! I've just ordered some of the Neutrik NP2RX-B, fancied the black body for a change, definitely not the cheap range . Had a look at Maplins online - JHC I ain't payin their prices!!!!!!
3. I love that '59 film, seen it before & love seeing it every time. The quantities amaze me, even in those days My dad was a carpenter, joiner & cabinet maker - I remember his workshop from a very early age, he didn't have electricity let alone machinery in 1959! Mind you he was making one-offs
4.
dont know what the speaker is!
There's your problem
5. Exactly as Bassman says - & never mind 1977 - I had MEGAGAS for 1 in 1973 & trolled the streets of that London with £400 in my pocket but couldn't find 1 out of dozens I tried that played well IMHO. I ended up with a brand new Gherson Blonde Jazz, a Hiwatt 100, Orange 2x18 cab, an empty pocket & a seriously loaded credit card! BUT - that's another story! I've never touched anothr Ricky Baker to this day I hope you find someone to let you try their's & I wish you luck in your quest. Cheerz, John
6. Ohms dear boy? What exactly are you mixing up?
7. I've told a couple of guys about these amps at these prices & while they would love too they just ain't got the $$$ Fabulous little amps, had mine almost 2 years now & use it practically every day without a hic-cup, it always makes me smile GLWTS Cheerz, John
8. Yes these were bought as seperate plugs & as far as I remember all came individually bagged & sealed as pictured, yes the NYS207 is printed on the silver part of the bag. I bought the N2RX plugs for my amp & cab leads but tried the cheaper Reans for pedalboard/patch leads. Cheerz, John
9. How's about - MiM - Jazz body, P/J pick ups & P neck
10. That's a biatch, thought you were part of the furniture & fixings on that one!
11. Cheerz for that, I've checked all my Amp - Cab & Cab - Cab leads, they are all indeed the NP2RX - thankfully no sign of any problems there! I've been searching through my spare bits & found another of the REAN NYS207 still sealed in it's bag from new. The writing on the bag says REAN a brand of Neutrik AG, as you say above though - there is no REAN stamp on the inside of the housing, the edges seem OK but it looks suspiciously like a batch of cheap copies I must've got somewhere along the way
12. Only 1 has really bad corrosion & they've all been in the same 'not far from ideal' conditions, may have been from a bad batch
13. Had a bit of a sort out yesterday, including a little use pedal box & found some Neutriks jacks in a sorry state - pics: Bought for making up patch leads - I thought they were a reasonable quality bit of kit but now I'm not so sure. They've never left the house, not got wet or been bathed in splashes of beer or any other liquid. The plating is badly pitted & corroded, not fit for use - they're probably not even 2 years old - fit for the scrap bin! Now searching for some good quality r/a & straight jack plugs - any recommendations? Cheerz, John
14. Does your local luthier have a reputation that might ring bells here on BC? You can't put all luthiers in the same fruit bowl Cheerz, John
15. Had a clean up today & put a Gramma underneath the rig. Didn't realise it's practically the Little Bastard's 2nd anniversary already thought it deserved a picture Cheerz, John
16. I would never have carried on until that was sorted, if it was as bad as you say it could have been fatal! Surely it needed sorting? What about next time? Dangerous
17. I ordered an Auralex Gramma from Dolphin, best price I could find on the web, in stock at £38 + £3.99 P&P. Very pleased with the service, ordered late Tuesday, here before 10 today, friendly home delivery service via Yodel couriers. I'll have a sort out & get it under my Little Bastard Mini Stack shortly! Cheerz, john
18. Would love to see pictures Cheerz, John
19.
Dave's latset newsletter does a comparison to a US fender which you may find helpful... http://www.certainba...s/nl021212.html
Having read all that - I'd say he can certainly talk the talk
20. Mart is correct above, just thought I'd add - the 'Case Earth' Ground/Body of the Jack Socket should be a continuous wire to the Pre amp & should in effect be internally connected to terminals 2,6,10 - 11 shown, to provide ground continuity to all other parts. The battery negative Black wire must go to the 'Jack Barrel Earth' Tag as Mart say's so that it is isolated from everything else when the Jack Plug is withdrawn. Cheerz, John
21. Yep - another 727mm here - American Vintage '62 P. John.
22. What about this? No connection whatsoever with me - I just saw your thread & had posted about this.
