1. Hopefully a genuine mistake but best of luck with it's return.
2. Bl00dy shame, sorry to see you go, best wishes for the future Darren & Chris.
3.
He reckons the old pickup cover used to have the F sign on it. That can't be right can it? I thought the old covers were plain. Must have been Gordon Ramsay's old bass then Ps the pickups have sunk and the rubber/foam needs replacing underneath. Is the official stuff any different from standard weather strip rubber? Any decent 'spongy foam' will be fine, Thanks
4. I'm amazed they're still there with covers too, trouble is it's nearly 200 miles up the road from me
5.
Check out this video. Zoom through to about 3 min 38 secs. He gives some good info about how A strings commonly rattle. Do what he says and it'll probably fix it.
Great information video - but I wish he'd taken more care regarding the finish on the body around the bridge. Pulling the old strings off like that can do some terrible damage with the sharp ends. I always use a couple of business cards, 1 above & 1 below the bridge to prevent scratches.
6. Excellent result hope the theivin scrote gets what he deserves & cashconverters done for handling.
7. Anyone near Newark looking for cabs? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Ashdown-Engineering-MAG210T-and-MAG410T-Bass-Guitar-Cabinets-covers-/150689432931?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2315ca4563#ht_500wt_716

9.
If you don't have a short steel rule, at a push a credit/debit card isn't a bad substitute
Well I suppose you could buy one what I meant is a LONG straight edge, like a 24"/2'/60cm steel rule to lay along the top of the frets
10. Probably a reference to the ~ shape caused by the truss rod, so the last few frets 'kick' up a bit. Have you got a 2' steel rule or similar straight edge to lay along the frets & check?
11. Has anybody ever had a payout on a insured bass getting damaged/lost/stolen/delivered to wrong place/just plain disappeared?
12. Erm - http://basschat.co.uk/topic/159096-halloween-jukebox/page__hl__halloween__fromsearch__1
13. Check out the basschat marketplace, there's a Little Bastard for £300 I think, that with a 112 or similar & you'll be smiling a long time. That'll do all the valve tone you'll ever need If you fancy the Fender/Squire P bass style, they're always coming & going on here, be patient with a bit of luck you might get a 2nd hand 50's Mexican P-bass, 2 have just been sold in the last week or so for a very good price.
14. Have you tightened the truss rod with no string pull on the neck & applying hand pressure to relieve the neck before tightening? What happens> Can you feel the truss rod nut 'working' on the thread or not?
15. I've had a few sets of Fender 9050s & they're pretty good for the money IMHO. I'd probably still be using them if it wasn't for ebay & US sellers doing GHS strings at same price as budget strings over here.
16.
This bass can be viewed & collected in Hackney. If you decide to have it shipped i will make sure it's packed well inside a cardboard guitar box asking for offers over 10k or your offer will be automatically rejected and then not prepared to spend 1% of the asking price on a decent flight case for delivery ??? WTF maybe seller is banking on the notion that anybody who could afford this sort of wedge for a bass would go collect in person or send their PA?
Yeah I LoL'd at that. If I won it of course I'd love nothing more than to meet up with Norm for personal handover, a chat & a 'that's how it should be done' private demo
17. No disputing Norm's has got the mojo to the max but that 64 is so in good nick it tips the scales for me.
18. Coincidentally listed alongside each other on ebay (when sorted by highest price) - which would you choose - assuming money no problem? A: http://www.ebay.co.u...=item2a15667bbe B: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/1964-Fender-Jazz-bass-SPARKLE-GOLD-64-Vintage-RARE-U2-/270842063043?pt=Guitar&hash=item3f0f71e8c3 Cheerz, John
19. Bastards! Have you got any pictures & serial numbers? If so put them up so everyone knows what they're looking out for. Bastards! Good luck, John
20. Oooooooooh that's big bad & beautiful
21.
Isn't that just a trick of the slightly upwards angle of the photo? Its exactly along the top edge of the board (there's no binding as evidenced by G board edge). He is bending the A slightly away from the E so the gap looks artificially large
Is the right answer I looked at it for a long time before it dawned on me though
22. Good old photo' of Duck & his P, but where's the E string?
23.
I play to a funky/rock style and a bit of slap.What's your advice?Cheers! =)
Stop slapping & let the funk flow from your fingers try a Pino Palladino if you can find one, not that they're in your budget range - but if you like the P with flats thing - you're on the right road you can get the P-bass you fancy, fit a good set of flats, then get down & boogie, play that funky music 'til you die (not wishing any untimely mishaps - just saying like)
24. Go to shops - try 'em out - then buy what suits you & don't forget the basschat marketplace What's your budget?
