Check out the basschat marketplace, there's a Little Bastard for £300 I think, that with a 112 or similar & you'll be smiling a long time. That'll do all the valve tone you'll ever need
If you fancy the Fender/Squire P bass style, they're always coming & going on here, be patient with a bit of luck you might get a 2nd hand 50's Mexican P-bass, 2 have just been sold in the last week or so for a very good price.
Have you tightened the truss rod with no string pull on the neck & applying hand pressure to relieve the neck before tightening?
What happens> Can you feel the truss rod nut 'working' on the thread or not?
I've had a few sets of Fender 9050s & they're pretty good for the money IMHO. I'd probably still be using them if it wasn't for ebay & US sellers doing GHS strings at same price as budget strings over here.

This bass can be viewed & collected in Hackney. If you decide to have it shipped i will make sure it's packed well inside a cardboard guitar box
asking for offers over 10k or your offer will be automatically rejected and then not prepared to spend 1% of the asking price on a decent flight case for delivery
??? WTF
maybe seller is banking on the notion that anybody who could afford this sort of wedge for a bass would go collect in person or send their PA?

Yeah I LoL'd at that. If I won it of course I'd love nothing more than to meet up with Norm for personal handover, a chat & a 'that's how it should be done' private demo
Coincidentally listed alongside each other on ebay (when sorted by highest price) - which would you choose - assuming money no problem?

Isn't that just a trick of the slightly upwards angle of the photo? Its exactly along the top edge of the board (there's no binding as evidenced by G board edge). He is bending the A slightly away from the E so the gap looks artificially large

Is the right answer I looked at it for a long time before it dawned on me though

I play to a funky/rock style and a bit of slap.What's your advice?Cheers! =)
Stop slapping & let the funk flow from your fingers try a Pino Palladino if you can find one, not that they're in your budget range - but if you like the P with flats thing - you're on the right road you can get the P-bass you fancy, fit a good set of flats, then get down & boogie, play that funky music 'til you die (not wishing any untimely mishaps - just saying like)

Thank you.

Dave,
It doesn't look like I've had a 45-105 set of GHS so sorry can't help there.
I've GHS Brite Flats 49-108 M3075 which have dark blue silks & GHS Black Nylon Tape Wound 50-105, 3060 have bright red.

John, do you know what colour the silks are on the 45-65-85-105 set?
HI Dave,
I'll have a look at my old packets, not sure if I've had a 45 set or not.
Cheerz, John
I've tried GHS Flats both ways on my Frank Bello, which comes as standard fitted with BadAssIII & through body option. Honestly I couldn't tell any difference but that's via my 60 year old ears, nothing sophisticated about them ;-)
Thinking about it, I've had Fender 9050 Flats both ways on my '51 P, with Hipshot bridge & not been able to tell any difference.

I believe those are the same as Lakland Joe Osborn Flats. What colour silks do they have? The Osborns are black silks.
Deep Purle at the tuner, bare naked at the bridge
FWIW I've through strung mine and they haven't snapped. I was very careful and the angle doesn't look 'that' bad.
I've had LaBella Original 54 Oldies strung through on BadAss & Hipshot bridges with no problems & I can't see why they would be any trouble on a standard Fender bridge. After all - the original P bass bridges/bodies were all through mounting.
My favourites remain GHS Precision Flatwounds in 55,70,90,105, personally I find they feel better in every way to the LaBellas.
Hi Orys,
Great intro - welcome to the forum. If the Peavey Cirrus BXP in the ebay link is one you like the look of, I'd say it's a good buy at that price. Good sounding well made guitars but if it would suit you? Who can tell - only yourself
BTW the seller of the Peavy is nothing to do with me, although he could well be a member on here
Good luck,
John

John, if you are taking a trip up to Terry in Stevenage, let me know if you want to meet up for a coffee and chat.
That's an offer I can't refuse cheers mate, once we start talking bass/koi/fishing someone would have to drag us apart
I'll certainly let yo know if I'm going up near you, no plans yet & pleased to reciprocate if you're ever down South.
ATB,
John
