More good reasons for new above ^^^^^^^ I've only bought 1 brand new & it was because no decent examples at what I thought a reasonable 2nd hand price came along in the 6 months I was looking for one, also the dreaded VAT increase in January swayed me to get in early. Most of all though because I wanted a very specific model, that I will only buy once & I wanted it to be right! Factory fresh & untouched 'as much as possible'. I found exactly what I wanted - Fender American Vintage '57 Precision, White Blonde - at £200 less than most places so I pressed the button. I would have liked to walk into a shop, slapped my wedge on the counter & said 'I want that one' but none of the shops around here had or could get what I wanted at the time. Not to mention it was a special treat - present to myself for my 60th birthday

Yep flats on all mine, black nylon flats, shiny steel flats & most recently flats cleaned/polished with Fast Fret GHS are my favourite flats so I thought I'd try their *famous* Fast Frets. I've only tried it on 1 bass so far, early days but it feels good greased lightning

That's uberkool dood had a play on the virtual & found my way round it so easily, reckon could knock out some toons with that US $4k + extras though! Love the A0 bottom & the 9 bass strings are flatwound as standard. On my wish list

With a Black p/g - Rosewood as dark as you like, or Ebony would be sweet.

It might only be a bridge but it seems that some people pay a lot of money for them & if the saddles are filed out too deep IMV I'd call it bu55ered! I imagined the depth of filing that might be required & the time/effort to do so, to remedy a problem (high action) that has a far simpler resolution. As the wiki link has been posted already that explains the reccomended course of action I find it strange that some people are still coming up with IMO more difficult alternatives.
