I have major GAS for a '57 Vintage USA in white blonde, it's almost a second mortgage & they don't seem to come up 2nd hand but would I be satisfied? I've not been able to see/hold/feel/try/play/hear one yet
Any tips on my technique would be much appreciated. sitting down to play I find it less comfortable to play - it just kinda doesn't work for me. I'm also silly tall and my hands are huge. Thought ya might want to know.
Hey pirate, It's good, as already commented, the bass could do with a little more volume & clarity but hey it's great for first video! As for technique, (I'm tall with big hands too, but a lot older ), if you're sitting playing a lot you need to keep your back straight & level up your shoulders. Most of your right hand action was off camera but from what i saw you probably need to work on the way your wrist is kinked over the top of the woodwork, that's not good for you long term. Make sure your legs are not cramped too, if you're sitting on a bed you'd definitely benefit from getting a stool or similar, maybe 24" high or more, it will help a lot with your posture. Try a strap too, take time getting it set right, it will help control the bass, spread the weight & take the pressure off your thigh where it's pushing down. HTH, keep up the good work, Cheerz, John
Right. I have been reading through this place for some time now and it seems to me that if we all HAD to play the same bass starting right now it would be the following - Squier VM Jazz Badass Bridge Wizzard Pickups John East Pre Who on BC would accept this bass as their one and only if forced to give up the rest of their gear? Also what is the BC amp? I was thinking little bastard but not so sure.
The Squire VMJ don't float my boat - sorry I don't like Jazz necks & don't rate Squire a lot. Badass bridge - which one? They're good but I think the Hipshot are neater & have more/better adjustment eg: string spacing. Wizzard pickups I haven't tried so can't comment on but I think I'll stick with Seymour Duncans & biggest no-no = any preamp! Passive for me every day ta very much. Just call me old fashioned & put a '57 vintage P white blonde in my hands = happy now Amp? Little Bastard suits me fine but it won't satisfy the needs of most here, that's for sure Staying with the Ashdown all tube idea though - Small Block 427 I reckon will do more than enough Cheerz, John

Superb Congrats & well done

Don't bother buying one of these amps if you want a HundredWatts of transistorised tinnyness & thin-tone However - if you fancy a HundredWeight of real tube heavy duty tone & old skool bassiness, these Little Bastards are great Have a free BUMP for the first 2nd hand LB I've seen & good luck with the sale. Cheerz, John
Having paid £400 for mine about a year ago, I was shocked what this went for. Two tuners that seem to be at odds with each other.
KiOgon replied to Marvin's topic in Accessories and Misc
One is a Korg GA-30 (small cheap little thing) the other is the tuner on a Zoom B2.1u pedal. Tune up on one and the other will then say you're slightly flat (sometimes sharp) and vice verca. I'm assuming it's because neither is particularly accurate as they are fairly cheap (i suppose).
Have you checked they're both set at 440Hz? -
Im seated watching at the O2! Did you watch him do DSoTM? I watched it 3 years running in three different venues... lol
I can remember 1973 Earls Court - I've even still got the bootleg LP I bought on the steps, the ticket stub & programme - the T shirt has long since gone! First time I saw the Floyd was the free concert in Hyde Park in '68, Atom Heart Mother, loved them ever since. -
I'd love to... but I'd never pay such ridiculous prices for one evening's entertainment. If it was £40 I'd go, but £75 plus booking fees? And I'd have to get the other half one. And then pay for travel to either London or Manchester. Hm, no.
Tickets direct from O2 online @ £67.25 & no booking fee - worth every penny IMHO. It ain't often I'll travel to that London but as it's Roger PS In July '90 I was working for the company that did the official video of The Wall Live in Berlin, up above the mixing desk with the AV gear, I'll never forget it! -
YES! Tickets went on sale today - SORTED! - got mine, anybody else going? Manchester dates = May 20/21 Ooooooooooooh it's a long time since, October 94 IIRC. Roger Waters Tour Cheerz, John

bass string 55's, flat and plastic coated questions??
KiOgon replied to algmusic's topic in Accessories and Misc
One thing I forgot to mention - the string earth (thru bridge) doesn't work with black plastic strings. I've never had a problem with buzz or noise, but its worth remembering.
Possible if strung through body but if the ball end is in the bridge you will get continuity through the string core. Your body touching the strings outer only won't have any effect. -
Always been good to me,cant praise them enough.
+1 They could not have been more helpful when I wanted to 'update' my Mini48 cab to look the same as my Little Bastard cab. Superb customer service, always reply to emails, a good example to some others! Cheerz, John.
