  1. WoW! Top job Twincam and glad you're sorted Tom😎
  2. Can you remove the nut and examine the threads? If it's the nut thats stripped and the actual rod is OK - all you need is a new nut. In fact it's worth just trying a new nut anyway for the sake of a few squid. EDIT: Not sure this is the right one but - for example: https://www.ebay.co.uk/p/Truss-Rod-Nut-4mm-and-10-32-Thread-Guitar-Bass-Trn-20/1181117437?iid=112090873899
  3. I would think - 'if the hi-fi repair guy ' - is worth his salt he could source components and repair/remake the crossover in a moment or three. There ain't nothing complicated or difficult or unobtainable or out of date about a Kef crossover! A long long time ago *I blew a tweeter* in my Kefs, found an equivalent fit, bought a pair and fitted them. Good job I got the pair, they were a massive improvement over the originals for about £20 IIRC. * You know the really high part of Edgar Winter's Frankenstein?
  4. I can't see - is there a earth wire coming from the jack socket? Edit: Assuming the black I can see is going to the bridge!
  5. Sounds like something is earthing out to screening or wires shorting, a picture of the pots/wiring might help. John
  6. A; You didn't ought to have done that 😂 B: Wouldn't a replacement neck be easier?
  7. I'd rather find how far from a Jazz they can get 😎 Plenty of Jazzes about!
  8. Really liking the look of the new range - courtesy of Andertons , (no connection), never had a Stingray and probably never will, but N I C E very nice 😎
  9. I used the Fender Gold cables previously, tried the Platinum also but they're far too stiff! All the Fender leads have stayed in my cupboard since I got the Vox, very user friendly, I have 67 year old ears that couldn't tell you any real difference in truth, but I like the Vox the best 😎
  10. 'sss snake oil' innit !? "Product Description Vox Bass cables provide an extended, more accurate bass, as well as freedom from noise and interference that can compromise your musical experience. These products use superior grade 99.99% purity copper conductors that will give you better clarity and a more natural sounding bass range. The large solid core bass conductors result in fuller, deeper, more extended bass response, and this is combined with thinner gauge stranded conductors that give better mid and upper bass response. The exact design was established by doing hundreds of hours of listening tests through numerous types of equipment. The precision formulated, Polyethylene dielectric material results in stronger signals that yield better definition of lower frequencies, and more natural sounding bass."
  11. Yes and yes, you answered your own questions in the first post!
  12. First of all - 'calm down dear' - I'm sure you could play a lot more controlled! Second - not exactly low profile or pancake, but very solid and well made, the best bass lead I ever had and always use; https://www.amazon.co.uk/Vox-VBC-13BL-Class-Professional-Cable/dp/B000Y7RQQA Better than many if not all above that price range IMHO. John
  13. Use the good loom wiring as a reference and copy that 😎 If you seriouslly overheat the pot when soldering it can go either way, short or open circuit or just erratic. Have you got a multimeter? That'll be a wire to connect the shielding paint to a earth point, connect with the bridge earth and pick up -/common/earth.
  14. There's nothing 'wrong' with what you've got, I would use the other tag on the tone pot, (swap the white wire to the other side tag) and make sure nothing is touching earth or the shielding when you put it together - that's the problem - position the pot tags away from the edge and it should be OK. John
  15. Picking is a way of life, plecking? No, I don't think so 😁
  16. That's a real shock, very sad to hear, RIP Dave.
  17. Oh yes, forgot about that, we're on our second, first lasted 9 years then seemed to go too firm! Bought the same make again, Ergoflex. So with the mattress and Down pillow we should be in bed heaven 😁
  18. 100% Duck Down Pillow - seriously - all those years with shitty cheap nasty things!
  19. The Queen of Soul, truly a legend - most sad - tears in my eyes. RIP Aretha

Another P-bass wiring set for Mark, as always a perfect gent and a pleasure to chat with and do business, top fella. Cheerz, John
  21. It could easily become be a slothead 😄
  22. You could file the mangled end clean and cut a new slot with a junior hacksaw and/or a sharp edged needle file. 😎
  23. Great vid, never had any of that 🤯
