1. Wrong - IIRC - you don't have a Koi pond
2. You know what you should have done - don't you Mark
3. ^good job^
4. No, looks el-CHEAPO
5. At least he/she didn't scratch it into the lovely wood - it looks like just bits of tape stuck on. Apart from that it's got a sort of Wal look to it don't you think?
6. Al got in touch after a bit of an accident had put some of his controls out of order! We discussed the options by PM & soon sorted a kit for him. Excellent communications & instant payment, Al's a great guy to deal with, no hesitation in recommending him to one & all. Cheerz, John

Nick got in touch for a P-bass wiring kit to give his old P an upgrade, great communications & instant payment, a real pleasure to talk to & deal with. Cheerz, John
8. Yes, this weeks star prize goes to Ghost Bass - https://www.dropbox.com/s/2opubr7rchzasas/2014-07-16%2013.50.07.jpg
9. My AV '62 RI P-bass is wearing GHS Precision Flats 55-105, fitted/changed from the Fender rounds when new. Any changes to truss rod were minimal from factory settings & I don't remember having to change it since, for about 3 or 4 years. IMHO - if you want to change strings at all - you're going to have to gain confidence in setting up, it'll pay huge benefits in the long run, getting the action & playability exactly how it suits you - without the bills! There are hundreds of youtube set up videos, not to mention our very own Basschat Repair & Technical content http://basschat.co.uk/forum/12-repairs-and-technical/ Cheerz, John
10.
AHA! I've found one! Sadly it's not really my style aesthetically, but i've found one bass that's only routed for a j bridge p/up
I bet it's got a P-pup route under the pick-guard
11. If you have a standard Jazz, how about a custom scratch plate with no middle pick up cut-out, maybe a 1 piece incorporating the control plate with just the one hole for volume & one for Jack socket?
12. Hey Mark, You can send it down & I'll 'av a butchers if you like
13. You need to connect the paint - I presume you mean conductive paint - to the earth coming in from the jack socket, which should also be wired to the pot bodies. Usually a screw is fitted anywhere convenient in the control cavity, with a solder tag making good contact with the paint & the wire soldered from there to the earths mentioned above^ wherever is easy. Cheerz, John
14. Send me a picture of the wiring on the pots & I'll see if I can guide to as to which ones to swap , shouldn't be difficult if you can solder?
15. Simon got in touch for a P-bass wiring kit, great communication, all done in a couple of PMs, instant payment, perfect way to do business, no problems Cheerz, John
16. Looks sweet enough very tasty
17. Mark replied to my wanted ad for a practise amp for my lad with a very kind offer, we agreed a trade & everything was done/delivered exactly as arranged. A real pleasure to deal with, great communications & a happy ending all round. Cheerz, John
18. The 3rd pic used in the ebay ad is a stock Fender pic, it all sounds fishy to me - report him
19. PJB stuff I'm told is very good but it's not cheap 'you get what you pay for'
20. I had the micro cube a while - didn't get a lot out of it with any passive P's or J's - just about liveable sounds with an active, overall not impressed. But then - I'm a grumpy old git who likes a bass to sound like a bass
21. Had one when some shop was doing them 1/2 price a few years back - not bad for that price! Does yours have the controls in correct position as per the manual? Mine didn't, neither did any of the stock I saw in GAK, IIRC the volume & blend were swapped over.
22. £350! ssshhhhh you'll have a queue at his door
23. Against 2 guitards with 80W Marshals & noisy drummard - I don't think you've got a chance TBH (TBH also = to be heard)
24.
Thanks for that - could be that I misheard when he said he bought the bass Anyone know of how they compare to other Jazzes though folks? Quality of build / components etc? EDIT: Or why they are so cheap, compared to other USA Fenders??
Could be a genuine '90 - does he swear/is he certain he bought it in '90? If he'd the original purchaser - he should know - any receipts?
25.
http://www.fender.co...product-dating/ 1999, unless I'm reading it wrong. Edit: Beaten to it by John! Hi, John!
Hi Mark, hope you're good! Reading the Fender blurb though - it could be a '90
