1. I use GHS Precision Flats 50 - 105 on 3 P basses at the moment & they're all fine. You should certainly not have a problem. Cheerz, John
2. Another 15 watt combo user here http://peavey.com/products/index.cfm/item/0/116598/ plenty of power for most every hall, clean or gritty, brilliant all valve amp.
3.
What do you use for the .045 string? I noticed there isn't a file for it in the bass section or guitar section. I know the Hosco are double sided. Are the Stew mac ones double sided too?
Yes I noticed there were only 3 sizes listed on that page, but they do or did do .045 + many smaller, must be another list somewhere. Not double like the Hosco, the ones I have are single size.
4. I use these Stewmac ones http://www.stewmac.c...&xst=3&xsr=7332 which are perfect for the job. The Hosco ones are also excellent, the bow saw type http://www.ebay.co.u...=item51a0899cf6 is not good for doing nuts in situ due to the extra bits that hold the blade in, they get in the way. If you have your nut blank in a vice they're fine. The welding tip cleaners are OK for the smaller gauge strings but they don't go big enough.
5. Yeah it came in on 27th March & now they've finished playing football in the yard with, so they've booked it out, or binned it, or decided it's too broken to send on Nothing unusual for USPS
6. Much love for Pino, he's as smooth as it gets
7. Cheers Geoff I've done several Warwick passive looms, complete drop in replacement, then you can keep your old active set to go back in if you change your mind. PM me if you're interested. Cheerz, John
8. Was it a bed warmer until someone put strings on?
9. I made a P-bass kit for Graham, perfect comms & instant payment, great guy to deal with - no problems - highly recommended Cheerz, John
10. If you connect/bolt/screw your jack socket to it - it will be earthed if the jack is not on the scratch plate - run a wire from under the jack socket to under a pot, clamped by the fixing nuts/washers.# You'll be needing some Brasso to keep it shiny
11. I made a shielding kit for Steve's Jazz bass, great comms & instant payment, followed up with good feedback. No problems, will happily deal with Steve again. Cheerz, John

14. I made a P-bass loom for Dan, great comms & instant payment followed by great feedback = perfect guy to deal with, great bc'er! Cheerz, John
15. My Frank Bello came standard with a SD 1/4lb P & a Fender SCN J fitted, no idea why they do that - the SCN was as weak as a fortnight by comparison. I fitted a matching SD 1/4lb J & it's lovey, a true powerhouse, plenty of output from both pups soloed or mixed, it works
16. Yeah - you have to look for one that says Fender on it & a USA will sound much better than a MiM but the MIJ's are OK
17. Sounds like it'll be a 'great gig in the sky' almost best of luck - I hope it's a great success - sorry I won't be there Edit: BTW not the "PJB" Phil Jones is it?
18. Have you looked inside? Is it the socket type with a sprung centre contact? If so 'adjust' it with your thumb so it's a bit tighter, or fit a new socket. Cheerz, John
19.
I've seen it done elsewhere on here but can't remember the topic. I just wonder if the wiring blocks have to be of a certain amp or something?
I make wiring kits with solderless connectors, I could fit them to your controls for you if you want to send it down & cover return postage PM me if I can help. Cheerz, John
20. I had an enquiry which turned into an order for a P-bass kit from 'Mr Quid' - all comms were great, instant payment, feedback left - jobs a good'n No problems here, wouldn't hesitate to deal with again. Cheerz, John
21. Alternative picks are available I like a bit of leather sometimes different & complimentary to flats I feel, you can play 'firmer' than fingers but without the click of a plastic pick. Mandolin picks - loads of varieties - grades of felt & leather, try some Edit: I have GHS Black Nylon Tapewound on 1 fretted & 1 fretless, lovely tones from both.
22.
Well i did it! i got the tools needed together, sat down and watched a series of 4 short videos by John Carruthers and went for it!! Did the truss rod first, and immediately the buzz started disappearing,. Then followed his instructions and did saddles, checked intonation etc. Only thing i didn't have to do was the height at the nut, which i'm rather glad about because he might have looked confident filing away at a brand new bass but i wouldn't have been! Still going to keep practicing it on my OLP though, but both HowieBass and yourself are correct, i did sit there after thinking "Well that wasn't as bad as i thought"!
Well done to you for doing that, I was going to suggest you let it acclimatise for a day or 2 before you touched anything - but
