1. You're just spoilt
 2. Or there's ASTEROPE Cables ;-) Bob Babbit liked them! http://vimeo.com/59402492 Now available via JHS! http://www.jhs.co.uk/asterope.html
 3. Or just to be really different - these are really very good - quality, VFM, looks & feel http://www.amazon.co.uk/Vox-VBC-19BL-Class-Professional-Cable/dp/B000Y7O0FK/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1392043717&sr=8-1&keywords=vox+bass+cable But to conform - OBBM
 4. Right thing to do Lozz, it's soul destroying when the love & fun has gone out of it, definitely time to move onwards & upwards. Have a break - come back fresh - you never know what's around the corner. Best of luck, John
 5. I would rather go for a £200ish Squire, Vintage or similar fretless & play with for a month or so before I altered my dream bass if it suits then go ahead, you'll get your money back on the cheapo no problem.
 6.
R1 (the top one in the picture) is 1k, the other three are 100k. The three identical 100k ones were taped together in the kit to seperate them from the 1k one. In the component markings section R1 is labelled as brown, black, red and R2 to R4 are labelled brown, black , yellow. The instructions are actually really clear and easy to follow, I just don't understand why it doesn't work!
Yes, but what I was getting at is the kit in the Maplin photo appears to have different values. Edit: What writing does the IC have on it? Can you tell what it is or does the instructions say?
 7. What does the kit instructions say about the resistor values? Looks like you have 3 x brown/black/yellow - 100K & 1 x brown/black/red - 1K, the ones in the Maplin photo look like 4 band marking & could all be 1Ks.
 8. It's a < £300 bass, although the nut finish doesn't look nice, as in not finished off, I can't see how it's 'poorly cut'? If the string buzzing is causing a problem though - you have every right to send it back, if you start attempting a fix you might invalidate the warranty.
 9. Welcome to the machine Loula Playing bass sitting down ain't so bad, you know - when you're legs are past their best - doesn't stop my shoulders aching though Have fun John
 10.
This is a little worrying: http://www.bbc.co.uk...siness-25733346 This bit is definitely worrying: "... a lot of post goes on aircraft, even within the UK, so ask at the Post Office if you are sending a device with a lithium battery inside." Please be careful and follow the rules. They are there for a reason
Royal Mail issued a new booklet of prohibited & restricted items in July 2013, with particular sections on batteries of most types with specific rules for Lithium, which are banned UK & International if not within an electronic device. Every parcel I send I'm asked what's in it & if there are any batteries.
 11. Good man - turn it up a bit I can't quite hear it from Bexhill
 12. Paul is a totally top geezer - he sent me a pie & a pint for a little bit of a wiring job, lovely bloke, deal with confidence, great basschatter Cheerz, John
 13.
I've used HipShot on all my basses and not had a problem, although there is a little trick to tuning it correctly.

I use a HipShot too, so come on, don't keep it to yourself, what's the "trick"?

Yes, what trick? Cough up now.
Another happy Hipshot user - awaiting the reveal
 14. You know the rules - pics or it didn't happen
 15. Loving it, cool as F, but Dunlop rounds? Do you mean tyres?
 16.
The 2014 Gibson EB is calling my name, and I don't really know why. It looks much better than last year, with the black pickguard and the jack socket moved from the pickguard to the body edge.
Mmmmmm, I've just done a rewire job for one of those, shall we say the factory way of doing things can certainly be improved on
 17.
Thank you Gents for the very, very kind words. And YES it will in all probability have the typical SG Std. NECK DIVE OF DEATH. And you are also right on about the 17 degree head angle breakage issue. I've seen a lot of those with my years as a retired Roadie. I still have my Fender Am.Std. Fretless Jazz, that I prefer the sound over the former Precision I sold. And I like the RH450 head, over the LM lll. So, to me it's worth it. Besides, no matter where you live, in the U.S., or anywhere else in the world, GAS is GAS! Sweetwater Sound, Sweetwater.com is the only one that I know of that has the Guitar Gallery that you can see the actual Axe, weight, serial number, and how many of the same model is in stock to choose from. It worked for me, a couple of times now.
Lovely - but I'm safe from SG Gas - I'm far too big & fat for a little ol' bass like that
 18.
One thing I think makes the 2013 onwards Gibson basses so appealing is the fact they are actually very reasonably priced for a USA made, nitro finished bass with a quality hardcase.
My thoughts exactly, looking at Sweetwater.com Guitar Gallery does confirm that too
 19.
Does the SG bass suffer from heavy neck dive like the SG guitars?
Only until you drop it & the head cracks off near the nut then they're fine Sorry
 20.
there's a clip of it here:
Chucking lovely
 21. Sweetwater.com is a great resource for detailed photos & specs, wonderful to see the actual bass you're ordering & get the weight. I'm pretty sure there's no UK site with such good info online. Bets wishes with the Sg - it looks terrific Cheerz, John
 22.
Is it you?
What - you mean like 45 years ago?
I'm on my tiny screen phone, but think that is an original
Yes it is - I'm guessing from '68ish, but I don't think the photo is very old
 23. Found on Google - Who's this? https://www.dropbox.com/s/udcsb6yu7lm43n0/coronado.jpg
 24. Lovin the new breed of semi's that are around, Fender Coronado - aged cherry burst or maybe the Starcaster in CAR, bit worried about the short scale, then along comes the Limited Edition Epiphone Jack Casaday looks gorgeous in white & it's proper long
 25. I knew it was a trap!
