  7. Could be just the jack socket, is it worse when you move the lead in the socket or rotate the pots?

  16. Well if you're not considering Pink Floyd, ('cos they're not heavy ) Made in Japan has always been the best of Deep Purple IMO.

  18. Sharp is short & flat is long if the harmonic is sharp the string is too short - you need to move the saddle further away from the nut. HTH John

  25. Yes you need a common ground wire from the centre 'hole' of the jack socket to the pot bodies & the bridge.
