1.
Yep. It works, but I don't know why... something I find almost as annoying as it not working in the first place...
Yep cheerz Ian, just had my first notification for weeks must go & lay down now Cheerz, John
2. Great idea - a lot of people prefer the passive sound. If it was me I'd fit a decent passive wiring kit to your existing (excellent) DP123's & see how you like what that gives you, I think you'll like it Definitely the low cost option, then if you're not happy you can think about different pick ups.
3. Thanks Badass - I've done that - now wait & see
4. I had a look at the notification settings & believe it's the same as it ever was but I haven't had any PM or other notification emails - probably for a couple of weeks now. My email address is still the same & working for everything else, I'm using Firefox & Chrome. Cheerz, John
5.
What about a Vox Foundation bass? They're only £173!
That - actually a home built copy of that ^ was my first bass Actually the Bass was only £73.10 - it's the amp that's £173 (Did I tell you I used to work for Vox - back in the days!)
6. Have a look under the bonnet & see what you've got in there, in particular - get what numbers & letters you can see off the cap. What tone variation are you after?
7. I generally use a Weller No.8 Chisel tip for pot bodies & the like, that's 400 - but 350 is fine if you've got a decent size tip. The decent pot bodies don't need abrading, but to make like really simple, those Flux pens are wonderful. Make sure you've got decent resin flux cored solder too, old school 60/40 lead/tin can't be beat!
8. Lucky 'B' - congratulations on the win - can we see the winner? Sounds like a real good prize too! Don't forget we need pictures or it didn't happen
9. Just spotted - looks good for <£200 posted http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PEAVEY-ZODIAC-BASS-WHITE-CLEARANCE-SALE-ONE-LEFT-/310774657667?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item485b9cf283
10. Yes another vote for - a great bass face! Great restrain & great flow
11. My post is not intended to put people off, I would buy them myself if I had a use for them. I expected someone would say "I've done this a dozen times" or similar - no problem if you know what you're doing. If anybody wants to buy them & doesn't 'do soldering' I will offer to do the job for them - on the understanding that it is possible for it to all go horribly wrong. Cheerz, John
12. "Don't worry about it not having wires, just de-solder the ones on your existing pickup and solder them on, it'll save you from having to solder the pots too." It needs to be said - soldering wires onto the terminals of pick ups is certainly not recommened unless you know what you're doing the pick up windings which terminate on these contacts are very 'fragile' Not dissing anyone or their skills but there is a high risk in doing such a job
13. Andy bought a P-bass wiring kit - great communication & instant payment, proper gent to deal with. Cheerz, John
14. I'm no expert - from what I've seen & heard that's completely possible & very likely - I'd say
15. Haven't we done this before?
16. Are these the MiM 'same size' or 'bridge bigger' pick ups please? Can't tell from the photo
17. I just got ticket for us at the De-La-Warr Pavilion Bexhill, my local, should be good, (if you like Keane of course) They're a local band made good worldwide 'nearly'. http://www.keanemusic.com/index.php It's a new project - full info & venues on the website; http://musicscreen.co.uk/index.html Cheerz, John

19. Could only watch a few seconds - what a bunch of K_nts
20.
Late 70s P bridges didn't have threaded 'spiral' barrels. Single-groove barrel bridges were fitted from 1969 onwards (with a long 'G' intonation screw) and the 'standard' single-groove barrel bridge appeared from 1972. My 1976 P is 100% original (I bought it in 1976) and it has single-groove barrels. Edit: I'm not saying there's necessarily anything wrong with this bass, by the way.
Aha! Yes that did cross my mind but all mine have got threaded saddles, except the BadAss I suppose 'cos they're all 'mock vintage'
21. All looks good & original to me - can't see what's not original about the bridge Musky?
22. I had the pleasure of dealing with Alain again, this time I made a wiring kit for his Peavey, great comms & instant payment, a perfect gent. Cheerz, John
23.
Mr Claber spills the beans http://barefacedbass...es-of-ports.htm
I tried reading that - - but I fell asleep I'm glad he cares though
