If your bass is not shielded a decent job of shielding will definitely cure it.

You may find that you didn't leave in long enough to settle after your set up & it has continued to change since you thought you had it just right nothing to worry about, it often takes a few goes to get things exactly how you like them when you take on a new or second hand bass. Patience is a virtue -
You're welcome I usually use 250 K Audio Log pots for both Tone & Volume with .01 for 'old school' or .047 for 'modern rock', occasionally use a 500 K tone pot with .047 to get the brighter end of P-bass territory. It doesn't matter at all if they're matched IMO. There is snake oil, there's many many tons of BullShit & there is also 'you get what you pay for' in terms of capacitor construction, quality & purpose - which doesn't necessarily convert to changes in tones that your average human ear can differentiate.

If you want a 0.1uF cap to try I'll send you one PM me your details. Cheerz, John

It was my pleasure to make up a couple of wiring kits for Owen, guiding him along the way to hopefully achieve what he's after. Absolute diamond to deal with, great comms, instant payment, perfect transaction. Cheerz,. John
Thanks John! As above, I'll try that shop. The next time I need a job done I can drop down to you in person!
Yes mate - you're very welcome & if ever you're coming down this way give me a shout!

Hi Paddy, welcome over the only shop I know in Kent is the American Guitar Centre in Tonbridge, he has a lot on ebay too, http://www.ebay.co.u...=item27ca9b61da Edit: Must type faster ^
I've always had a hankering for a Marshall VBA400 but even second hand they command a high price. Why? Why are all valve amps so expensive?
Same reason pirates are called pirates - - -
Nice! If you give the gear on the back the tuner a light spritz of WD-40, it will loosen right up. If you're opposed to spraying anything near your guitar, you can just spray it onto a rag and then transfer it to the machine heads...
WD40 is only good if you take them off the wood first! Then use it to clean the parts, but please don't spray it where it can soak into the wood.
-
THAT IS NICE The tuners shouldn't be stiff - maybe they've got 'gunge' in them, simple job to strip down & clean out, wouldn't recommend any squirty or oily 'quick cure', it's worth doing properly. Cheerz, John

Champers all round! Hic! Congrats & felicitations to all
Looks like I will be going with an option Sims suggested .. "We can do a brushed gold with black plasic backing for £50.00 + £4.50 P&P in the UK. The top layer feels like metal but the backing is black plastic"
That sounds like the material Howard offered me at first when I enquired about a gold plate, have you asked him about that option? He might save you a bit on £54.50 Sims prices -
I'll wait for the double neck version - maybe

No problems with the GHS Black Nylons I use, no squeaking here! Something I usually do with ALL new strings before putting them on is to clean them off with Surgical Spirit rubbed over with a cotton pad. This removes any traces of lubricant/machine oil used in production processes. You might be amazed at the essH1t that comes off some strings, I think stainless are the worse. That might be causing/contributing to the squeak!

How loud can you get? It'll take a few 810s to beat this!
aha so you were up on galley hill then, we were at the pier, sounded awsome looked great well worth the wait in the wind cheers stef
Yes Galley Hill, I wish I'd gone to the pier but my 2 lads had said they were going up there on their bikes so I met up with them & yes the wind on t'hill was 'kin freezin - flaming June! Best view & sound we got was as it came in low & slow down the Crowhurst valley before doing a left for Hastings -
Matt ordered a P-bass kit for that 'Old School Tone' - great comm's, instant payment & another satisfied customer, just the way it should be, a real pleasure to deal with him, top bloke. Cheerz, John

I'm just off to see the Vulcan A LEGENDARY Vulcan bomber will fly over the skies of Hastings next month in what is believed to be the first time the world famous aircraft has visited the town. The iconic jet will blast out its trademark deafening engine noise across the town in a special display on Saturday June 15. Now the only flying Vulcan left in the world, the XH558 is expected to arrive over our skies at 3.40pm for the start of a 15 minute display.

I went through a phase of Rotosound Nexus then Fender Black Tapewound, which were both like roundwounds with black plastic sprayed on! Didn't get on with them so went for the full monty - GHS Black Nylon Tapewound, beautiful currently using them on 1 fretted & 1 fretless Jazz.
