THAT IS NICE The tuners shouldn't be stiff - maybe they've got 'gunge' in them, simple job to strip down & clean out, wouldn't recommend any squirty or oily 'quick cure', it's worth doing properly. Cheerz, John
Looks like I will be going with an option Sims suggested .. "We can do a brushed gold with black plasic backing for £50.00 + £4.50 P&P in the UK. The top layer feels like metal but the backing is black plastic"
That sounds like the material Howard offered me at first when I enquired about a gold plate, have you asked him about that option? He might save you a bit on £54.50 Sims prices -
I'll wait for the double neck version - maybe

No problems with the GHS Black Nylons I use, no squeaking here! Something I usually do with ALL new strings before putting them on is to clean them off with Surgical Spirit rubbed over with a cotton pad. This removes any traces of lubricant/machine oil used in production processes. You might be amazed at the essH1t that comes off some strings, I think stainless are the worse. That might be causing/contributing to the squeak!

How loud can you get? It'll take a few 810s to beat this!
aha so you were up on galley hill then, we were at the pier, sounded awsome looked great well worth the wait in the wind cheers stef
Yes Galley Hill, I wish I'd gone to the pier but my 2 lads had said they were going up there on their bikes so I met up with them & yes the wind on t'hill was 'kin freezin - flaming June! Best view & sound we got was as it came in low & slow down the Crowhurst valley before doing a left for Hastings -

I'm just off to see the Vulcan A LEGENDARY Vulcan bomber will fly over the skies of Hastings next month in what is believed to be the first time the world famous aircraft has visited the town. The iconic jet will blast out its trademark deafening engine noise across the town in a special display on Saturday June 15. Now the only flying Vulcan left in the world, the XH558 is expected to arrive over our skies at 3.40pm for the start of a 15 minute display.

I went through a phase of Rotosound Nexus then Fender Black Tapewound, which were both like roundwounds with black plastic sprayed on! Didn't get on with them so went for the full monty - GHS Black Nylon Tapewound, beautiful currently using them on 1 fretted & 1 fretless Jazz.

Strangely - they do turn up from time to time in Uncle Horrid's garage I just recently scored a Jazz gold anodised plate from him - rare as a rare thing with bells & knobs on Mines going on an faded Olympic White, rosewood board fretless. You never know he might have a Jazz 'onesie' plate somewhere Best of luck. -
Pet shops sell bags of it - don't they?

'Cos it's got 2 pick ups = more magnets & they're heavy Oh Carol!

I had a Electro Acoustic which had kept me ticking over for many years but when my partner died I decided to start playing more again. The Tanglewood got boring & I hankered after a Fender Precision, giving myself a budget of about £800 to include a practice amp better than my Peavey with 8" speaker. I started searching for 2nd hand Fender P's & found BC! Then I got gas - saw a Skjold Exotic Custom being sold here & couldn't resist. The Skjold has faily recently moved on & now I have 4 Fender Precisions, 3 Fender Jazzes, (1 of is fretless) & 'a few others in the house' . Still getting GAS but not so bad as it used to be

I'd rather have Betsy any day

I do enjoy these 'mostly' BBC4 band docu's, there's always so much I/we never knew about going on at the time, I/we just turned on tuned in & enjoyed the music We say every time though - that was all part of an era in music - that will never be repeated or bettered.

Is that real? Seriously
I knew a couple of guys who worked for Cable & Wireless in Jeddah. When were you in Saudi?
On & off in the mid to late 80's, working with C&W, Egerton Construction, Nokia & Fujikura on their Cable laying projects throughout the area. TBH spent as little time as possible actually in Saudi, much preferred the Abu Dhabi & Dubai lifestyle Bahrain was maybe best of all, Qatar & Kuwait not so much I know how much it's all changed in the last 30 years I wouldn't recognise any of it. Best wishes, John
