1. Nice project, I keep meaning to look into valve bass amp kits, does anybody know of any around? Happy building John
2. Looks great - as long as the seller doesn't live up to his name & you only get 1/2 a guitar Can't say what the tone pot problem is but will be fixable for sure. Cheerz, John
3. Which pot have you got? The Fender CTS Concentric PN 0019268000 is the usual & it's 2 different pots for a start, 500K nearest the mounting, for tone control & 250K on the bottom for volume. So not suitable for what you're trying toi use as a blend pot.
4. Guitar Info Your guitar E836318 was made at the Fuji-gen Plant (for Fender Japan), Japan in the Year(s): 1984 - 1987 May not be accurate but without a JV serial No. I don't think it can be a 'JV'. Bargain or not - only the buyer will know! It'll cost about £450 to find out after import costs

10. Have a look through the [s]catalogues[/s] sorry 'Inventory' here, plenty of ideas from the 80's - http://andybaxterbass.com/ If anything takes your fancy - he's got a pretty good reputation I hear - "for finding" PS: You've got an easy YOB, try finding a choice from 1951
11. Well - here's a Toyota idea! http://inhabitat.com/toyotas-new-fun-vii-car-is-a-transforming-social-network-on-wheels/
12.
I recently had my 4 string GB repaired and set up by Jon Shuker who did a sterling job. Bass played like butter However his workshop isn't the warmest in the world (its amazing how some of the best makers have to make do with a industrial unit with no heating in order to make a living and still turn out top classes instruments.. Hats off to him) A few days later and my bass now has acclimatised and the action has gone low..resulting in major fret buzz.. Frets 1-10 across all string but interestingly its worst of the E and G I'll admit to not being a master when it come setting up.. He sorted the saddle height for me and I am reluctant to start raising the saddles So I am thinking of adjusting the truss rod 1/4 maybe 1/2 turn? Is this the best course of action? Any help as always greatly appreciated Cheers Ben
If you were happy enough to take it to Mr Shuker for a setup why on earth don't you give him a call & explain, I'm sure he can offer some of the best advice you could hope for
13. My eldest lad got me a great big black T shirt with Fender logo on the front & Precision Bass across the back & it fits
14.
That's not directed soley at you Ki0gon btw but I guess you are included
Yep I definitely resemble that comment but I'm not looking for treble zing or brightness the guitards can have all that
15. I know quite a few active owners who have requested passive conversions & are now very happy with their sounds I no longer have any active basses, they always have an artificial quality to the tones to my old school ears
16. Ian sent a wiring kit to me for modification - excellent communication & a real pleasure to deal with - we had a good chat on t'phone, Sorted. Cheerz, John
17. In: Fender USA '03 Highway 1 Precision, Vintage Icon series Fretless Jaco Pastorius Jazz, Fenix Jazz (ongoing project), Ashdown MiBass 220. Out: Nothing - unless you count wiring kits In then Out, (Planned); Ashdown MiBass 550
18. Pink Floyd, more than any other for me I think using Fenders of course
19. There's a light? I wish someone had shown me Welcome aboard, it'll be alright Cheerz, John
20. I would be interested in the body if you were to break it, I have a 'P-erfect' neck all ready & waiting for a body like that, so would not want to take on the work to get that neck sorted, although I imagine it would be worth it. Was the top strap button re-positioned during the refin due to damage/original hole stripped? It appears to be at a strange angle. Cheerz, John
21. Looks great, like a well worn P should be & I'm pleased to hear - sounds great - good job. Great to see the action photo too Cheerz, John
22. I made a stacked knob system for Kev's Fretless P/J build, he's a great guy to deal with, spot on comms & payment with great feedback after. Highly recommended. Cheerz, John
23. I think I can see it sticking up out the back of his bike, it's on the way
24. No problem from Thomman wharehouse to UK hub, then if it hits the Royal Mail - can't be arsed it's nearly Christmas - no chance Unless of course it's handled by Deutshe Parcel Shifters all the way to your door, should be here Friday
