I just read the post about the band of deps and the £1800 fee. I dep quite regularly, I ask for £200 plus expenses, but I'm open to negotiate on that, see my previous post above. I've done loads, so I have charts for pretty much every function set. I wouldn't dream of not giving 100% to any gig.

Think of what fee you would like to receive, and then negotiate down if necessary. You can't really ask for more money at a later date. Personally I'm of the opinion that a gig is a gig. I'd rather be playing and end up £20 or £30 better off than stay home and earn nothing. It's not just my hobby though, so I can't really afford to discriminate.

You really think you're just going to browse ? You better leave all methods of exchanging money at home ! I got to agree with everything that's been said already about Mark. Also though Phil at bass gear is not to be forgotten about. I bought my aguilar TH 350 from him, and he sells Gruvgear fretwraps that I've recently started to use.

Just keep trying. The more you do the easier it gets. You just have to get used to the sounds of major or minor chords, and the added extensions.

We did a tower of power song in a live performance workshop at college recently. Prestia mostly uses one finger to fret the notes, the others are muting the strings. It's quite an easy technique to use. Just use your index finger to fret the notes. Use your ring finger and little finger to lightly mute the strings. Be careful because it's easy to end up sounding harmonics.

Use the ones you're not using to mute the strings. If I'm slapping octaves then I use fingers 1 and 4 to fret, and my 2nd finger I use as a mute.
