  1. Perhaps energy company executives and managers could be the new decorators!
  2. As reported in Guitar.com yesterday. Many levels of staff and management involved and with around 300 employees laid off, that is equivalent to an ‘entire afternoon shift’. Very sad day for those employees. It will be interesting to see what happens to stock levels and development, hopefully nothing too untoward.
  3. Not helpful!!! 😁 I have 3 problems, one of which (can you guess which one?) sadly makes it impossible at the moment; 1 - I accidentally bought a Maruszczyk last week 2 - I have two Jazz basses up for sale and I really should sell one of those before buying another bass 3 - The wife is around this weekend
  4. It’s great - as expected with PJB gear. I find that I need to boost the bass and mid frequencies to get real depth but just love the overall silence (no fan or hum noise) when using it at home.
  5. And it is very nice one! 😃 Not American Elite though! 🥲
  6. If I hadn’t just bought a PJB Double Four, I would snap this up! GLWTS
  7. Stupid thought time - apologies in advance! The thread has been responding to tone but what about the effect of gauge on action action? I always find I can set the action lower when using flats as opposed to rounds.....is that generally because of the extra tension, meaning less vibration? Then, would it follow that using an identical brands 105s compared to 90s, you can set the action lower due to the extra heft and possibly increased tension, meaning less vibration? I appreciate there would need to be nut/neck/saddle tweaks to get the best possible results but do wonder if anyone has noticed the ability to go to a lower action with heavier strings? As I said in the opening.....stupid thought time!
  8. That makes me feel very old! I genuinely have at least 5 pairs of shoes older than you! 🤣
  9. I think (but could easily be wrong!) it would have been third in line behind the American Vintage Reissue and American Deluxe series basses.
  10. I’m very late to this topic but did briefly have two early Metro Expresses. One JJ and one hybrid. Both suffered from excessive hum, poor finishing (pickguard to control plate gaps) and very poorly finished frets. So much so that if I had been asked to do a blindfold test on a £99 Harley Benton I had at the time and a ME, I would have thought the rough fret ends belonged to the HB, not the ME. The HB had way better finished frets. I also didn’t like the massive increase in volume when switching from passive to active - personal thing - but haven’t experienced the same issue with Shukers or some Fenders I’ve owned. The best thing about them was probably the gig bag. Very disappointing and not what I expected from Sadowsky or RSD as they were labelled. I’m sure (hope) the later versions are better.
  11. Great custom bass! Enjoy.
  12. I had one of these MIJ Geddy’s, it was a great Bass with a very slim neck. GLWTS.
  13. If it was white, it would be in Gloucestershire by now......
  14. Did you buy yours new? Feel free to give in to the temptation!
  15. I’ve never seen 9 neck screws on a bass! Stunning bass.
  16. I feel It is a lot of bass for the money and the wide range of tones available is impressive too!
  17. Wow! That’s what I call a heavy relic, lovely! Is the pickguard reliced too - it almost looks new in the pictures. GLWTS.
  18. I had a Jazz from the same year and by the looks of it, the same colour. I’m think mine was called ‘Chrome Silver’. Great Bass! GLWTS.
  19. Happy NAD! I too am a big fan of HB products - I’ve never had a bad experience and believe they offer fabulous value for the money. Just had a peek at the new price on this (really!) and have seen the 300 block at a steal too! Good find sir!
  20. Unused vintage La Bella strings. They appear to be ideal for a short scale 2 on each side headstock bass. The E and G strings measure 93cms from ball to the start of the silk and the A and D 96.5 cms. I honestly have no idea how old they are but they have been stored away and obviously never put on a bass. A quick look at the La Bella history shows they were in Long Island City from 1940 to the late 1970s. Hopefully someone one will be able to use them or perhaps they would even made some great case candy. I can post these at extra cost or feel free to collect in person.
  21. Price drop to £645. I’m reluctantly putting this up for sale after another recent Jazz purchase. You don’t often see these earlier Ash / Maple / Black block versions, most Maple boards seem to be with a Sunburst body with Black dots and no binding. The bass is in excellent overall condition with one very minor blemish as shown on the upper side near the horn and four tiny indents on the face of the upper horn. The pickguard does have pick marks and swirls but could of course easily be replaced if required. The strings are roundwounds and whilst I really like their well used dullness, others may want more zing! The action is pretty low and the frets are also in great shape. Controls are volume / pickup pan / stacked bass & treble / mini-switch for active passive mode and finally, mid for the two noiseless Jazz pickups. The fingerboard radius is a modern 12 inches and the heavy duty bridge is a great improvement over the typical BBOT! I would prefer a straight sale otherwise the wife will pull my bits off......again! Shipping can be arranged if required but pick up in person is most welcome.
