Show us your rig of choice for the weekend ** Basschat edition**
Bleat replied to bassace97's topic in Amps and Cabs
Yeah, the bass is on a grab stand! Here is the actual headstock.. It does have a wonderful neck which is only spoiled by that hand shaped nut. π -

My Laney Nexus went and has recently been replaced with this big lump of pure Rock 'n' Roll... (or should that be Tuck-'n'-Roll)? The sound and build quality is way beyond what I expected. The head has absolutley everything you need and nothing you don't.π -
Have you got a Sidewinder speaker in there? π

Not had a problem with mine at all, holds a 9.5lbs bass just fine, and has done for a few years now. ! Maybe you just got unlucky with a bad one? I had a chrome version of that Stagg stand a few years ago and to be fair it was a very nice little stand and really well made. I prefer a grab stand personally. π

Sorry, but I own the ULTIMATE guitar stand. It even has a sticker telling me so.

Anyone bought from Thomann recently? Experience?
Bleat replied to Twigman's topic in General Discussion
I bought some Grover machine heads recently from Thomann. No problems. I had the usual service from them. Picked, packed, sent and received within 4 days. Maybe you were just unlucky on this occasion? -
Alternatives to Hipshot Ultralite tuners for a Fender bass?
Bleat replied to fretmeister's topic in Repairs and Technical
Just to let everyone know that I'm not a member of MENSA but I don't like to brag about it. Actually I'm barely a member of Basschat come to think of it. π -
Tell him you have checked and had it confirmed it's pronounced "Flongeur" in a French accent.

The Laney Digbeth Preamp has all the features you require, and should give you the tones that you're after also. π https://www.laney.co.uk/amps/bass/digbeth/db-pre

UK towns (not cities) with a lively gig culture / lots of bands?
Bleat replied to kiat's topic in General Discussion
I grew up there. It always had a good music scene. I was never short of bands to join/ people to play with, and there were plenty of music venues in the town and wider area at the time. I moved to near Wales in about 2002 and it pretty much finished off my live playing days! -
Going on how much this bit of bling costs, I can see most sales going to fat, bored 50+ year old blokes with a healthy amount of disposable income to waste.

It would be nice to see some input from some young female bass players. 5 pages in and all I see is grumpy men arguing. π

I'm not usually into fancy experimental effects, but I'm currently having fun getting to know this pedal. Only just started trying it out, but so far have coaxed some good "Muse-A-Likeβ’ " synthy, gated fuzzy sounds out of it, and a very convincing Stranglers "In The Shadows" squelchy, over the top fuzzy/distortion. It also sounds great running it through my Laney Nexus octaver and chorus effects too.

Laney Nexus n210. Front ported, has feet on side to stand it vertically, top mounted handles, lightweight. Can only buy used now.

An Ibanez Art B 100 ?

If I picked up a guitar I would have to take a bath in bleach straight after as I would just feel so... dirty.

Sounds about right. It's a great amp. I did change my preamp tube to a Sovtek but put the original Marshall valve straight back in as it was simply much better!

I use a Dunlop Road Pro. Had it years, does the job perfectly. π

The Laney Nexus cabs have LaVoce speakers, and the new Ampeg cabs have them also. I have 2 Laney cabs but not tried or tested them yet!

Personally I want a bass rig behind me at a gig. It's what I've always done, it's all part of the look and live sound experience especially for classic rock type bands which is all I'm interested in as a player. I'm not getting younger but am lucky to be reasonably fit. If I should get to a point where I can't physically manage to cart an amp of some sort around, it would be the end of looking to join bands/ live playing for me.
