1973 Gibson Les Paul or an EB-3. 😎

"Tone is all in the fingers" ...said the bass player with the biggest, most expensive collection of flashy basses/ amps/cabs / effect pedals ever seen.
-
..." This is absolutely THE best, most fantastic ever thing I've ever owned without a doubt it is just so awesome... selling to fund a new best thing this side of the universe"

I really wanted to be a Lumberjack, regretfully I picked up a bass instead.

I personally hate the things, but I think a Jazz bass would maybe compliment a strat better. Also will cover varying styles of music and cut through a mix pretty well.

You have to spend £300 on effects pedals for tonight's gig…

I would buy a used Behringer bass overdrive for £9.99 then spend the rest on booze, drugs and a cheap hooker, coz that's rock 'n' roll. -
Obviously the Schaller ( 2+2 !) machine heads are replacements, but you can see the original screw holes for those horrid cheap box shaped things.

In my experience, The Di Marzio Dp122 or Seymour Duncan SBP-3 1/4 Pounder are the only 2 P-bass pickups that I found made a real difference as replacement pickups. Both are great, but as I mentioned earlier the one already in the bass is more than acceptable and most replacements won't "sound" any better.

I believe "seafood green" is a shade of vomit.

If you are 8 weeks in and enjoying playing the bass, then I would go for it especially for £50 including the Peavey amp. You obviously like it! A new bass doesn't always guarantee that it will be "better" than the Encore. Though I'm not a massive P bass fan, I bought a PJ Encore a few weeks ago for about the same cost. Very well built, sounds like a Precision bass, plays nicely. I just pick it up when I feel like a change from my usual bass. In fact it plays better than a few more high end P basses I have owned previously.

Beatles 'new' Single, Now and Then, thoughts?

Dreary and depressing. One listen through was enough for me. I never really "got" The Beatles to be honest. -
My 1993 Washburn B200 LP bass. I have had it just under 3 years and it cost me about £200 from eBay. It will always be my #1. Looks great, sounds great, plays great, it's pretty much all I need. 😎

Add an accordion and there you have it... The Heimatdamisch plays Scott Devine. I would pay good money to hear that version.
-
Well not only does it mean there is more of the same to follow, by Vol:10 they may decide to go to 11 just for that extra little push over the cliff.
-
Well this is "Vol:1", so you know what that means.....

It might be worth having at look at Laney Amps shop on ebay to see what is currently available. They have had a fair bit of bass gear on there recently, mostly new old stock. I recently got hold of these brand new 2x10 Atom/Nexus cabs for about £200 each. La Voce speakers, 400 watt rms each, lightweight at 17kg, very well made. Can do landscape or portrait.

I so very nearly put up a picture of Starsky and Hutch, but opted for Jazz Club instead. 😄

Where was this when I was learning to play bass?

Does this mean the thread is now correctly intonated? -
There are some T-Rex Tone Trunk 56 boards including hard case for £49 + £10 postage on Reverb at the moment. Not sure if that is suitable for what you are looking for? I don't even have any pedals at the moment but very tempted to buy one anyway! Edit to add it can be used in or out of the case.

.... and 2 FREE sets of Laney stickers! 😍
-
I've just taken delivery of 2 very nice brand new Laney 2x10's. 17kg, 400 watts each, neodymium LaVoce drivers. Cost me £400 so pretty much everything these Ampeg cabs are for a fraction of the price, and a lot nicer looking.

My totally uninspiring Encore P-bass in incredibly tedious sunburst finish with not very complimentary nasty faux tort scratch plate that I decided would maybe look better with some fab and groovy flower stickers attached. I thought it would maybe encourage me to pick it up and play it... it doesn't and it didn't...I hate it and probably couldn't give it away.

Overrated: Trace Elliot: Every tone you could want as long as it's mid scooped. Ampeg cabs: Awful tone in a box. Underrated: Marshall and Laney bass amps/ cabs: Never had a Marshall or Laney that I didn't like the sound of.
