  1. We go for bass drum through a sub run on an aux in our band. Sounds great and easy to deal with.
  2. I was thinking of that thread. I believe the OO showed the thread to drummer. More sure of the outcome. Back on topic a powered sub would do the job instead of his rig. Handy to for your bass too if required. Our drummer has a powered sub for thet larger pubs and that works just fine.
  3. You can through the audiology department. First I went for a hearing test and free hearing aids and batteries. The earplugs cost me around £160.
  4. Welcome to the club. You are doing the right thing. I went down the NHS route with my hearing test / hearing aids and earplugs. I have the molded ones but with the Elacin filters which are the same as the ACS. I still ride motorbikes and have found a decent adjustable touring screen really cuts down on wind noise which can get too much, even with earplugs.
  5. Welcome to the forum. I'm a regular visitor to Wales and always use the Rockfield road between Monmouth and Abergavenny when blasting around on my motorbike. The road goes past Rockfield Studios.
  6. Custom molded with ER15 filters for the. I also have ER20 filters for my motorbike. They both work well and let me hear the music clearly but at a much reduced volume (I listen to music through s headset on my bike). Ok I'm a bit detached but I can hear everything so I'm happy. The Isolates didn't do it for me. I have mild tinnitus in my left ear due to standing next to the drums for years. It's manageable but almost always there in the background. My hearing has deteriorated and I wear hearing aids.
  7. I've had TC classic 450 for some time and still enjoy it. Enough useful features to get me by. Can be a bit bassy or boomy in some venues but easy to roll it off. Paired with a BF Two 10 and im ready to go. I'd like to try a 4x10 but my budget back and boot won't support that upgrade. Good luck with your search.
  8. Some years ago we played a dodgy pub in Exeter. Only the landlord a handful of regulars. A couple of which were doing coke in the toilets and one had a really young child with him all night. I felt very uncomfortable and luckily it was our last gig there.
  9. Generic ACS or Flare Audio off the shelf will get you going for not much. The Flare ones cut too much guitar for my liking but other BC's are ok with them. If you are serious then custom moulded with ACS or Elacin filters are the only way to go.
  10. BBC 1 10.30pm. Set it to record. Thanks for the heads up.
  11. Enough of this log punning. What about the mods you can delete. Have any been deleted yet?
  12. Some need to be done as the original IMO. For us its ACDC & GnR. Plenty of others we do are either covers of covers or or own take on the song.
  13. I'll be thinking I must remember what I'm thinking so I can post my thoughts to this thread.
  14. Beat me to it. Let's hope it gets back on topic and stays that way.
  15. I can dial in some on ny TC classic 450
  16. As is often the case no dates in the South West.
  17. I haven't practiced for a while and will admit to watching the last 2 England games despite not being a footie fan. It's the summer and motorcycling weather.
  18. I have molded plugs with Elacin ER15's from the hospital audiologist. Same as the ACS. I have the 25 filters for really loud stuff including sustained motorcycle riding. Couldn't live without them. Got used to them very quickly. Mild tinnitus made them necessary. Stage volume is around 90db average which is too much without protection. Join the club.
  19. Hi. I live in Torquay. There are a few BC's here. The music scene is reasonably healthy here, especially if you are prepared to gig outside the Bay too. There is no music shop of any real merit. I suppose you can find ads on JMB or Lemonrock. I hope you settle in and get gigging soon.
  20. Go for it. I taught a 40 year old women who was new to bass some years ago. She stuck at it and played in a few bands. Find a good tutor who will inspire you and keep at it. You won't regret it.
  21. I'll have to get out my Roger Mellie's Profanisaurus and work my way through that. Unless the Mods already have and have substitute words for everything!
