1. I'm glad you have discovered TE. I had an AH200 for years. Definitely agree with not using the mid pre shape, especially live. I boosted the low mids and had a great live sound and with my Ray cut through the mix. I use a TC 450 head and Barefaced Retro 210. Do I miss my TE head? Yeah I do at times but I'm happy with my current rig and glad I ran some TE equipment in my past. I'd be interested to hear what you make of it in gig situation.
2. I'm with you scrumpymike. I don't know about this amp. Does it noy have an input gain level light of some sort? What does it sound like and does it change much if you set the levels as you suggest?
3. We are playing at our favourite regular pub again. We do an extra half hour set after midnight. 200 tickets all sold out. Should be a blast
4. Much the same for us - We have also used the ABBA to AC/DC thing too . Bit of punk, pop & blues thrown in for us.
5. As ever some great recordings here. A pleasant way to spend some time this morning whilst waiting for my grown up family to wake up!
6. Used to have one of these years ago. Can't remember what I did with it. GLWS.
7. You have to leave room on the stage for the invisible bear Blue! Is it lurking behind by the drummer waiting for you to makes your moves?
8. Jesus. That is awesome. The Ric sounds great - as does everything really!
9. War Pigs was quite a challenge for me. Lots to remember and it keeps your fingers busy. Good Times Bad Times was a handful at first.
10. I too carry my old set of strings in case of a breakage. If I have bought some new strings in bulk there will be a set in my gig bag too.
11. Double your usual fee is about right for some pubs. That's what we do with our regular NYE pub, although I'm trying to get a bit more for 2018 as they want us yeast again!
12. I've recoded it and am looking forward to watching it later.
13. Generally no. Although I need to on 2 songs. The intro on whole lotta rosier waiting for the vocals during the short break after the opening riffs. Haven't got the feel of that yet and can't afford to mess it up. There is a push to A on Everlong that I need to count too. Again, can't afford to get it wrong.
14.
I'm sure it will be an amazing show, but I'm afraid I've had to pull out for personal reasons. Gutted to miss it, Mansons always put on a great show. Stuart
Thanks for the heads up. Hope to see you there another time.
15.
I love the Creedence version
We used to gig that version. Goes on a bit but good flun to play,
16. Many years ago it was an Orange 120 head and matching 4 x 12 cab. It was stonking. I was young and stupid and traded it because it was making some strange noises. It was probably only a valve. My traded combo eventually blew up. Guess he saw me coming.
17.
The amazing Stuart Clayton is doing a spot I believe!
Oh yeah. Just found the list on the Mansons site. I'll reconsider going.
18. I'll pass on it this year. The guest artist have been announced and it all guitarist I believe this year unless I've missed someone.
19.
I've just picked up a used two 10 and it has a bit of the dreaded tolex peel. I've searched here but can't find anything and the other bass forum mentions contact cement but a quick Google comes up with regular cement. Does anyone have any advice about how to fix this? At the moment I'm thinking 3m 77 or 90 contact adhesive. Cheers!
Contact Barefaced and they will send you some.
20. I edit our posters using Paint to suit the date and print 4 A3 posters at work for each gig. Luckily a friend made us a banner some years ago which is still going.
21. Look our for it on the TV this year. The previews look great.
22. We splashed out for new active cabs 1x15 EV ZLX15P after a recommendations from a sound guy. We gave vocals, DI from guitar effects board and kick drum each gig. Occasionally my bass DI and a drum overhead for larger venues. This works well enough for us. We don't have room to store and transport a sub and couldn't warrant buying one. Ok a sub would reinforce the sound and bottom end at times but that is rare. We get away with 1 powered monitor angled across the stage. Hopefully you will find something second hand to suit your budget and needs.
