1.
Has it shut down? We played at 'The March of the Mods' there a couple of months ago, seemed a nice little venue.
I'll double check next time I drive past.
2. Oh no, not the Spinney!! I can't stand the place and avid it like the plague. The pub next door was Murphy Roadhouse but sadly is no more.
3.
come and say Hi, Im the good looking one, you'll see..its obvious!
It seems we have something in common with our bands including some of our songs. Looking forward to it.
4.
you and me both, and I can't hear the guitarist very well, ear plugs and all that, so it can take me a while to realise anything's wrong
I have joined that club too!
5.
yep Exeter is your place for all things 4 & 6 string related (Mansons), Torbay is sadly now non existant for geetar shops, teignmouth has a little one thats not bad. If live music is your thing theres loads of pubs doing live music at the weekends, I can recommend the Coach House in Paignton, The Queens Arms in Brixham, (we're playing there this Sat ) and several places in Torquay itself, have a look here https://www.lemonrock.com/advancedsearchvenues.php?gigcityId=Torquay%2C+Devon+TQ1&EC_gigcityId=52152&maxMilesVenue=25&venuetypename=pub&venuename=&isAnchorSearch=0&isAnchorSearch=1&venuegigschedule=1&isVenueMember=0&isVI=0&isVTel=0&isEmV=0&isVPh=0&isVU18=0&isMap=0&entPolicyId=0&venSearchType=0&accMask=0&a=search
2 of our favourite venues too. I've been meaning to catch your band. Will pop along to the coach house on the 23rd.
6. I live here and if you are looking for music shops then you will be disappointed. I have to visit Mansons in Exeter. Are you looking for other types of shops? You will have more luck going to gigs. When are you coming here?
7.
always liked the driving bassline on the Spice Girls' "Who do you think you are." there, I said it...
There is no shame in admitting that here. You are umongst people who understand. The bass is what people dance to so it has to work.
8. I missed it but am intrigued reading the comments here. Going to watch it on catch up. Fast forward at the ready.
9. How many songs does he have issues with? If you do the gig definitely record it for analysis later. As others have said, agree copping strategy for when anything goes wrong. If you can keep the song going great. Do the gig and take good look back at it. Good luck.
10. I had a set on my Charvel 2B after I replaced the original passive pups. After about 25 years they need replacing and I got some EMG's. I don't think there was much of a difference TBH from what I remember. I sold the bass a couple of years ago now.
11. I have a copy of that book too. Good luck with your search for another.
12. That's a lovely bass. Been watching some BBC4 programmes recently that featured Culture Club on TOTP. What caught my eye was the bass player using a Sabre in this colour combination.
13. Welcome to Basschat. Good luck finding an amp. Should be plenty of second hand one to choose from. I suppose you want something that would be suitable for gigging as well as home practice? When I'm not playing bass I like to ride my motorbike. I toured Scotland last year and have fond memories of riding the A9 from Inverness one morning during an almighty rain storm. It was like the lights had been turned off and a waterfall appeared.
14. You can buy the LED PAR lights singularly and mount them to the speaker poles I suppose. We bought 2 for our band for around £70 but place them on the floor to compliment our T-bar.
15.
Saw them in the early 90s , they where fantastic , can't believe they are still doing it , I really should try to go again
+1 but for me it was the late 80's
16.
Can we now use the word "guitard" again?
I think the jury is still out on that one!
17. I have used Skype for business conference calls and there can be a bit of time delay going on with the audio. Give it a go and see what happens for you. Good luck. Hopefully technology can help you out
18. A sad story and end to a life. I have started to suffer slightly from it since NYE. I now use ear plugs at gigs and have been to see my doctor and audiologist.
19.
Are you referring to the use of that particular word, which is based on an offensive term, or just deriding fellow musicians who play guitar?
The use of that word. Glad I'm not alone in my dislike for it. I'm not going worry too much. It's just slightly annoying for me when I read it in a post. The usual mixed response so far which is good. Bring on the banter eh!
20. This is something that has been bugging me for a while now so here we go. There is a tendency by some to refer to a guitarist here as a guitard. We all know what this means and personally I find it quite offensive. I have had the pleasure of working with many fantastic guitarist and none of them would fall into this category. I'm I being too PC or just overreacting? What do others feel about this term?
21.
At sound check and the beginning of each set unless I think it sounds out then I'll check it again, silently of course. Guitarist is another matter.
Me too.

Ages to type!

Quite often get this at work when I'm logged on during lunchtime. Windows 7 pro with mega spec and IE. I don't have Chrome to check as a comparison yet. It's very frustrating and I tend to just browse in that case.
23. Had to listen to War Pigs as its in our set too. Cracking song and fun to play. Also see you do Crazy Train too, which is also in our set! The music is well tight for a live take. The 2 songs seems a bit fast though but work. The singers voice is unusual and there is something about him which i like but also something i don't. I would have to see you live and what his stage presence is. If he can be a real front man he should be ok. I will have to listen to the rest another time but what you have done is great. Shameless plug for our Soundcloud tracks which feature live gig recordings or War Pigs & Crazy Train. I used a cheap Line 6 BackTrack so the quality isn't great. https://soundcloud.com/carl-mepsted
24. Buy the tool off eBay and do it yourself. I did one of my basses. The tool is quite cheap and if you are careful is easy enough.
