  1. The TC450 heads are much better. I was told I was a bit too loud last night. I run it through 2x10 cab. I have had Trace heads before and they certainly hold their own
  2. Done. Good luck and keep us updated.
  3. No. Make sure you have DI capabilities though. Funilly enough a speaker did blow out on me at a gig so the DI was all that was left. I stood next to the PA bass bin and got through ok.
  4. If you have to use the first song as a sound check then explain that to everyone. Sometimes there is no other option. Never just launch into a set and hope for the best.
  5. TimR sums it up. I have had mine from new and use it as a spare too. The build quality is good. I have replaced the original passive pups with some active EMG's which helps with the overall sound. Don't worry about the pointy headstock. It will be a good buy so go for it.
  6. I thought I was going to see something about a bright coloured 70's motorcycle!

    hello

Welcome to Basschat. Has someone already taken the user name funkus? Or are you really a fun guy.
  8. Mansons in Exeter offer this and more. Check their prices on their website under workshop.
  9. Another for using meths overnight. Boiling strings does not work.
  10. A bass player with a class D amp and a lightweight cab. It's modern isn't it
  11. Years agio a new colleague at work asked if I wanted to buy a bass off him. I said it wasn't really looking for one but out of curiosity what was it. When he said it was a Stingray I was quite tempted. He let me borrow it and very soon i had handed over some cash. It's been my number one bass since. It's an early 90's 2 band eq honey burst with a rosewood fretboard. I have never looked back on this. Years later my friend had to get another Ray as he missed this one. He now has a 3 band eq with maple neck and honey burst body. The Ray s also our drummers favourite bass too. In our 3 piece it really cuts through and has a fantastic thump.
  12. EBMM Stingray for gigs Charvel for band practices Vintage for home practice That way they all get used, although the Aria Pro 2 fretless spends most of its time in its case.
  13. I saw them at Knebworth in 1990. Fantastic set which I really enjoyed.
  14. Our drummer uses a Traps kit for smaller venues but the kick drum is pant's so he uses the kick pad and brain from his Yamaha electric kit. Not quite the same a real kick drum but it's very small.
  15. As you have discovered there is great sound associated with a pick. I enjoy playing songs with a pick and im sure you will too. Another technique to learn but worth it.
  16. The low mids are where it's at. Works for me and I'm regularly told I cut through and every note is heard. We only have 1 guitar through so you wl a bit more work to do. Your guitarist's may need to make some adjustments as well.

    Hello!

Hi. Welcome back. I hope it's better second time round.
  18. Plenty of good songs out there. We do their version of Born To Run because of our line up. Epic stuff with a little bass solo to boot!
  19. Forgot the bass. I want to see a photo of the nicely beaten up church with paint missing!
  20. I have these Reflex Reds PJ pups for sale. They used to be on my Charvel 2B but have since been replaced with EMG's I replaced them because I had issues with some other parts of the circuitry but the pups work fine. They are passive but can be run as active with the preamp which I don't have. They work fine on their own and I have tested the P pups in my Vintage by temporarily swapping the Wilkinson pups. They come with the screws and some short length of wiring. If you want to go down the active route you will need the rest of the circuitry and there is some information on-line about this if you search. They are much the same as EMG's £35 including postage to the UK. [attachment=210577:Reflex Reds 1.jpg] [attachment=210578:Reflex Reds 2.jpg]
  21. Behringer. It's cheap but i only use it on 3 songs and not all the way through.
  22. I have a Stingray and a TC Classic 450 head. Ok, so it all goes through a Barefaced Retro Two 10 cab, so will sound different FWIW my EQ settings are. Bass - between 1 and 2 o'clock depending on the venue Low Mid - 3 o'clock High Mid - flat (12 o'clock) Treble - 3 o'clock I can be heard very clearly everywhere and every note is audible. Good luck.
