1. Thanks guys. Once again Basschat has come to the rescue. It all makes sense now. This is the first time I have had this option available. Both manuals have cable connections diagrams but none show the use of a cable as you have described with those connections at each end! At present I have plenty of 1.5m long jack patch leads (balanced & unbalanced) to run it in between the mixer and amp. I do have a variety of leads and connectors to rustle up the leads as described to try the insert route out, but these are not as long.
2. I hope someone enlighten me about using mixer inserts to connect and outboard graphic equaliser. Our band has a Behringer Eurorack UB2442FX-PRO mixer which is great and has plenty of features, except an on-board graphic eq. As it's the top of the this range that is to be expected as most people will use an external eq and can be flexible about what is used. I have got hold of a cheap second hand Behringer MINI FBQ800 to see if it can help tweek our sound. I didn't want to go down the rack mounted route at the moment as we don't have any spare rack space and are only a local pub band, so this seems a good way to explore using a graphic equaiser and it fit's nicely in our wireless microphone hard case. There are 2 ways to connect it and running it in between the mixer and amp is easy enough and seems to work fine. I tried to connect it using the mixer inserts as an alternative option and have not got a result, and searching on line has not really helped. Both manuals do not give an example of a wiring diagram when using the insertion path of mixers. On the back of the mixer are the 2 main L & R inserts which according to the manual "are the main insert points for the main mix. In the signal path they are post-main mix amp, but pre-main faders. Use them to insert, for example, a dynamics processor or graphic equaliser". Also on the back of the mixer are the main outputs, which consist of balanced XLR's & 1/4" jacks. What I could really do with is a simple wiring diagram /description of how to wire up the mixer and EQ using this insertion method. I presume the Main Inserts are used to connect but how and that seems to be only half the story as the EQ has an input and output.
3. Spotify is great. Radiohead (or Radiodead) IMO are 5hite and not worth listening to on any format. I remember watching them perform the pyramid song on TOTP and it was a wailing waste of space.
4. Good to see a Phil Jupitus us still on bass duties.
5. Bilbo's composition for me too. That cello was just awsome and really captured it for me.
6. +1 for subs on the floor & not the stage. If you play a few raised timber stages then invest in s Gramma Pad to isolate your cab & eliminate excessive bass boom. Have a great gig.
7. There have been a few threads on this. You may need to adjust yout trusrod, change strings or an some mass to the headstock with a Fat Finger. Hope you get it sorted.

Pairing cabs

From experience out of phase speakers sound cack.
9.
I've just been looking at the Google map, and noticed that the whole of the west country is missing! I am in London on Monday/Tuesday this week, If anyone can let me have the baton bass I can use it for 2-3 gigs myself in the next couple of weeks in Devon and liaise with other west country players?
I keen to use it down here in Devon, and the next available gig is 19th October.
10. Check out the versions by Tom Jones & White Plaines.
11. Our singer's front room. We plug Into the desk and run it through the powered monitor. Drummer has an electronic kit so volume is controlled.
12. My E string and sometimes A string are cut. Winding a full length E string is a pain as there is always too much for my liking.
13. My TE AH200 is still going strong. Speakers are Fane in custom cabs.
14. Compressor before octaver is recommended when I looked into this before.
15. Lazy add. 'Booking for the rest of the year'. So you only have one gig to do this year?
16. A pointy Charvel was so Rawk back then with the poodle haired rock freternity. Aria SB to. I have both in my arsenal, and yes I was play bass back in the 80's.
17.
I would love to see Chris Wolstenholme and Dom Howard there. There is always a section in Muse sets where they do a few little bass and drum tracks like this: Would love to see that!
I'm waiting for them to show up at the Mansons Guitar Show one day!
18. WOW. I was surprised to see this thread get resurrected after all this time. Welcome aboard Fran. I had a lot of fun taking part in the thread, researching and taking the photo of a waist coated me in my sun room. It felt like a real celebration of 90's Bassist and our relentless search to find your identity. We probably need to get out more, but leave our waistcoats at home.
19. M D Phillips will give you a masterclass in filling nuts.

Trace Elliot sound

Don't have much experience with the csbs but the heads have 7or 12 band eq which are very flexible.
21. No. But I've not had a set on for years like some have and seem to sound nice like James Jamerson.
22. Did a few Navy & Army base gigs in Hong Kong before the handover. Had to wear DJ's and some of the sets didn't finish till quite late. A good blast though, and good payers too. Go with the flow and enjoy, it's a good circuit.
23. Update. It's going back some time next with their courier. Thanks for your resopnses.
24. Ok. Have emailed them about it and awaiting a reply.
