1. Do anyof the tracks have a nude female bassist on them and we have to try and pic(k) which one we think it is?
2. We have merged Whole Lotta Love & Paranoid into Whole Lotta Paranoid. We start with Whole Lotta Love and after the 2nd chorus (before the middle section) hold the E for the beginning of Paranoid, also in E. After paranoid finishes we are holding the E and start again with the end of Whole Lotta Love where the vocals come in with 'Way down'. It really works and is favourite in our set for a whole lotta of people
3.
I never practice any other way than with headphones. I use a Tascam MP-BT1. If I need to randomly play along with anything on a different device, then I still have a CD-BT1MkII that has a line in.
Me too with the Tascam CD trainer. I just use the line in to connect my laptop or phone with the mp3's on. I even use the earphones that came the phone.
4.
They played live on the Tube and I thought they were great. They did a version of Born To Run which I preferred to the live Springsteen versions I've seen (although I'm not a Springsteen fan TBH). It was early days for me as a player but I seem to remember Mark O'Toole was a pretty decent player by then. I don't think they did much on the studio recordings though; I think a large part of it was programmed. Absolutely love the bassline to 'Welcome...' and Trevor Horn is a genius IMO.
I have always liked their version of Born To Run over Springsteen's. We play it in our band and I used to to play it in a band just aftet it was released. It's quite epic. There is also a small basd solo instead of the sax. Geyt your pick out and dig in.
5. Was searching for advice on different settings for TE GP12 graphic equaliser.
6. I wonder when Guy (Douggie) will be along to give us the lowdown on it?

Don't mind me

Hi. Hopefully you will find this easier than talkbass. BC is easy going and has plenty for everyone.
8. Hi Plambers, welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy it here. Hey BassTractor, you beat me to finding this Newbie.
Welcome! I'm sure you'll learn a lot from just being here. I did, and started on BC as a complete noob. Nows I think of it, I'm still a complete noob, so maybe you should look somewhere else! Here are some threads you can look at: http://basschat.co.u...arning-playing/ http://basschat.co.u...s-an-old-stick/ http://basschat.co.u...ner-bass-books/ I'd like to add that the very cheap iBook "How To Play Bass Guitar" from the iTunes store didn't seem too bad. Enjoy the site! best, bert
9.
That was nice 'n' all, but hardly helping us to get to five pages. Write some more, Mep! b, b
Not easy on my phone. Anyway I'm off to find some more newbies.
10. Welcome to the forum. Thought I'd better say hi as there have been a couple of high profile bassists introduce themselves recently and people commenting that most new members don't get 5 pages or so of welcomes Enjoy reading and posting.
11. Nice idea. As I am most active in Off Topic none of my posts will count.
12. Hi and welcome to the forum. I hope you enjoy posting and reading. I really enjoyed your article in BGM recently.
13. Mmmm. Nice. First time Stingray owner?
14. Glad you saw them, sounds great. I saw them live outdoors in Teignmouth a few years ago - awesome. For Time is Running Out I believe it's a combination of octaver and distortion, which ones I don't know but hopefully someone else will. Our band plays the song but I only have an OC2 to help me with the sound (I'm not buying a distortion pedal for 1 song). On Saturday when we were playing it in a new venue I could hear a horrible rattling sound when my pedal was on. I commented on it later to our drummer saying it sounds loke my speakers can't handle the ocataver but he said it was his snare rattling, phew!
15. My Ray has quite a few dings. It's my workhorse and I plan on keeping it long term. If you get a ding in the back of neck then worry about it.
16. Only very occasionally if I'm picking and jumping strings a lot. Won't bother if using fingers though.
17. Cool. Will record. Thanks for the heads up.
18.
I managed all 14 answers - but only managed one above the lowest in each. !
Me too. Thanks for the heads up. Caught it on iplayer. An enjoyable 15 mins
19. Peavey do some good cabs. This has the blue marvel speaker which I believe is not as good as the black widow.
20. Checking it out now. Some great stuff.
21. Try Mansons first. Good bass section.
22. Wow, I winder what that could be. Are you invitded on to The One Show or will the bass make an appearance on Later with Dave Swift using it on a song?
23. Cool. I too have a honeyburst but with 2eq & a rosewood neck. It came with a clear scratchplate which really shows off the body. I have recently changed it for a mirror scratchplate which looks really good too. Enjoy.
24. Is it a king hard decision to make?
25.
I like the fact that he had built a band around him, and he is out there playing live, he is not the worst by a long way. Not impressed with Marta on that vid (and I am a fan ) its one of the easiest things I have seen her play and that is the worst I have seen and heard her play, to me it was just "flat" maybe the Ray5 not a good choice or her sound not a good choice, it lacked imho.
The other videos are better for sure. She really grooves in them and has great technique for the amount of time she has been playing.
