I've had this twice. The last time I put the new 'dead' string on another bass and it was fine. I put it down to some sort of incompatability between string & bridge?

I got all excited reading the title, but when I found out it was yesterday I was most miffed. I'm a big Floyd fan but have not seen the Live at Pompei video! Anyone cae to stick as much as you can on a DVD and post it too me? I'll cover all costs and give you a good mention. It'll be while before it comes around again I suspect.

Can't really help as I still have my Trace!, but would be interested in the TC gear if I had to change. Read some great reviews and tried one out at the Mansons guitar show.

Good stuff. I must get a torch for my gig bag as this keeps getting mentioned in these sort of lists.

The lovely Sarah-Jane Honeywell from cbeebies plays bass. I once saw her play a bit on Tikkabilla. I can't find a picture or YouTube clip, so this is a picture of her not playing bass!
I wouldn't class Mansons as particularly decent but then that's my own gripe.
I like Mansons as shop and will visit them quite often. Their web site is not what you would call up to date. I saw they were advertising (& still are) a box of 3 Elite strings for £41.99 which I thought was a good deal. I was in there over a year ago and asked for them, to be told they did'nt have any in stock and that deal was not available. I said I saw them on the web site and the guy said he would look into it. Still is I suppose? I sometimes wonder what would happen if I tried to order them online.

I have had my 2Eq Stingray for some time now and feel no urge to buy anything else, not even a 3Eq model. Welcome to the club.

Our band is opening Fishstock in Brixham next weekend, an outdoor yearly event. The original opening act are now on in the early evening. We are then to play a local pub that night. We are ok with being first at 11.15am. Previously it has always been busy during the day with the Kids etc, but later on it gets a bit quieter as people want to head out and go to the pub, where we will be, again! On to a winner I think!

Audacity for Windows... anyone used it, recommends it?
mep replied to Grand Wazoo's topic in Recording
For a freebie Audacity is great. You should be able to do what you want. Record the backing track first and then play it back whilst recording your bass. The mic input will work unless you have a line in input instead. If you want to record via the stereo mix and you have windows 7 you will need to let windows know you want to use them and there are some great YouTube videos showing this simple procedure. Audacity will import audio tracks as welll which is useful. It really is feature packed and will not take too long to find your way around. -
Hi & welcome to the forum. I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I recently visited Venice when I was working on the aquarium project in Lido De Jesolo.

I saw it and was stunned by the offers from 2 of the dealers. Either they didn't know the price of iconic basses or they were trying it on. The £3k max offer may be a bit low. I too think The right person may offer around £5k. The seller should get on down to BassChat and set a good price. I'd watch that thread!

I thought the letter was quite amusing and agreed with some of the points raised. I clocked Dood straight away though. Get in there!

mep replied to jaybass 70's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
Mmmm, tasty. Better than my SB600 fretless. Nice find. I will keep an eye on this just to see what it goes for. -
Hi & welcome. So what particular brand of British bass are you fanatical about then? There can't be many.
I think you are looking at this too intently and specifically...he should be able to make up his parts to most decent songs.. Chain Gang. Chrissie Hynde... our keys plays a great piano part on that, IMO If he can handle Honky Tonk and you want an easy song.. Sweat Home Alabama. Oliver's Army, but to get it off close, it is NO easy busk, IMO. Sympathy for the Devil But I go with the approach that most songs can handle a piano part..so blast away. As long as the band makes room for him, it isn't a problem, IMO
+1 for Chain Gang & Olivers's Army, 2 great songs. Search for my posting of the bass line for Oliver's Army if you want to go for it.
The time limit was inevitable, I knew the early adopters Free club couldn't last forever. Fine, bust us down to Open level but I can't get on with this 5 play limit, it's such a brainless limitation. I will have to stop using Spotify as a recreational background music thing. As far as using it as a means to learn songs I'm sorry to say that once these restrictions kick in, I will be using Audacity to record the Stereo Mix while I use one of my five plays then keep the resultant audio file to play as many times as it takes me to learn the song. You can bet that on average it takes me more than five plays to get most songs down
I was wondering if anyone would bring this up. I must admit to have done this with streamed music via Spotify or YouTube! (It's just so obvious?) I will be upgrading to the unlimited service as I consider £4.99 a month is quite good value if you listen a lot like we do in our family. I agree that it's sometimes easier to find tracks on Spotify rather than trawling through YouTube. I still can't get my head around the 5 play limit though, it seems such a bad move. The 10 our limit I can understand.

As a fairly frequent user of Spotify Free / Open I now have to consider upgrading to the unlimited (or premium) service. In case you might not be aware Spotfiy will be making changes to the Free service from 1st May. You will only have 10 hours of listening a month, but more alarmingly you will only be able to listen to any track for 5 times, so bang goes any playlists you might have. Check out https://www.spotify.com/se/blog/archives/20...tify-free-open/ I use Spotify as a source for checking out new songs for our set. Also the kids listen a lot, particulary to playlists and the same few bands. I don't need the full Premium service at £9.99 per month as I don't listen offline or with my phone. The Unlimited service at £4.99 per month will have to do. It seems the annoying adverts are not doing the trick with getting people to sign up. What do you make of it and what will you be doing?

Hi & welcome from another Devon based bassist. Enjoy the forum.

Practising tools eh? There might be a few of them somewhere on BC On a serious note I have favoured the Tascam CD-BT2 for some time now.

Hi, good introduction. Get in to the forum.

Hi Dave. Some good influences there. Enjoy the forum, your bass and your band.
