2.
Had some time in between end of uni and gigging/session work so I thought I'd focus on a few more vids... Here's my latest. Hope you enjoy it!
Very nice, great tone you've got there for this too. Your playing is certainly tidier than your room!
 3.
Any sensible company would have been sending more than the two screws in the first place and without being asked.
One little rubber foot fell off my Barefaced Compact. There are eight in total. From a quick email from me (I was actually just letting them know it happened in case it was common and they wanted to do something about it) they sent eight feet, eight screws. (I put a dab of glue on all of them and it has not re-occurred). Would I buy from Barefaced again? Would I recommend them? Would I buy a Rick?
 4.
I'd never own a bass I was afraid to gig, that's what they are bought for and if a bass doesn't get a reasonable number of outings per year then it gets moved on.
This. What's the point? I use basses for playing bass on as opposed to them being worldly goods for me. I don't show my gear off at gigs, or anywhere else, it's just my bass stuff and I do not want to be identified by it either.
 5. I don't see why this is the Wal owner's fault? He did nothing wrong. Why should he expect anyone to touch is property without permission, especially something as personal and fragile as a musical instrument. It's a pain in the neck keeping things in cases at gigs where there's so little space, the cases get put away. Going along the 'it takes a village to bring up a child' line, assuming the Wall owner was not right there at the time why did none of the punters stop these two idiots going anywhere near the gear? In reality there is more responsibility there than the landlord who was no doubt busy keeping the queue at the bar down. Its the two idiots' fault, I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to find them, they need to be given the chance, now they've sobered up, to put things right.
 6. Can't see how to edit the title to let you know; THIS HAS NOW BEEN SOLD - sorry, 'twas a bargain!
 7.
Woke up wanting to listen to this today I'm getting right back into pub rock lol.
Ace! Now, with Wilko's fab guitar sound, are we hearing the alder of his Tele, the fact it is a Tele, or are we hearing transistors instead of valves, or is it the warmth of the extremely hard rosewood fingerboard, or is it all in his fingers?
 8.
It was undoubtedly a copy, that he allegedly played
Maybe it was played by Lemmy, but not the real one. Which brings me to an odd thought, should tribute acts use copies?
 9. tv is
The voice is ruined by Jessie J & William imho.
tv is ruined by The Voice
 10.
Stop now please everybody, i only placed my order 10 minutes ago and already I'm so excited I could almost piss my pants!!
It'll give a better warm feeling when it arrives!
 11.
S i x
] Does this add up to next Friday? If it's a day late it'll be the Monday - another two days!
 12.
If Alex could find a way to make a tweeter work in a compact it would be the ultimate one-cab-that-does-everything.
Yes, I'd go along with this, twice I have taken both cabs to gigs when just the Compact would have done as I had a little bit of slap which needed the tweeter. Tbh though, I'll just give the Midget T a try on its own next time, it continues to surprise me, especially now I've learned how important it is to have a wall behind it.
 13. Thanks, karlfer, I agree, but it's still here. Have interest from people who need to sell on their current gear first, exactly the position I'm in - we're all delaying each other! If this beauty is for you, get in touch, I'd really like to sell it asap.
 14. These are nice basses, the Yamaha has a composite neck which, as I understand it, helps to reduce the chances of a note resonating with the wood and producing a dead spot 'there's not a bad note on this bass'. However this would also reduce the effect of the maple parts being quartersawn (compared to a single piece neck). The Laklands all look to have very low actions!
 15.
Have you considered sitting down at practise sessions?
This. I do, even if I just perch on something.
 16.
Out of all the basses and gear I have gone through over the years the one thing I can honestly say I wouldn't be without is my Barefaced Compact.
Likewise my Midget. I'm now using it for almost everything, put it against a wall and huge bass throbs from it making it usable for surprisingly large venues.
 17. Hi bwbass I'm sure you'd have some fun playing around with the X-over cutoff points and balancing knobs with those two cabs, I know I did! Happy either way, although collection is always best as never really know what goes on in parcel processing depots/vans. Also if you were up this way you could have a good old bang about on it first. Someone else asked about postage, not as bad as I thought it would be as it's quite a lump; Here are Parcelforce costs for a 17kg parcel; Service Delivery Compensation Tracking Price express9 Guaranteed by 9am next working day Up to £200 Tracked £46.40 + VAT express10 Guaranteed by 10am next working day Up to £200 Tracked £38.07 + VAT expressAM Guaranteed by 12 noon next working day Up to £200 Tracked £29.73 + VAT express24 Guaranteed 1 working day Up to £100 Tracked £26.40 + VAT express48 Guaranteed 2 working days Up to £100 Tracked £23.07 + VAT http://www2.parcelforce.com/sites/all/modules/custom/pricefinder_pfw/images/plus_button.gif express48 large Guaranteed 2 working days Up to £100 Tracked £38.07 + VAT
 18.
Twigman, I'm going to be tearing off the Cleartone "treated" strings that came on my new fretless. The "treatment" seems to consist of a thin layer of black stuff that came off on my fingers in the first week of playing. I'm thinking of half rounds as a way of reducing string whistle while still keeping a degree of sharpness. I've never used half rounds on a fretless before and wondered what make you used that impressed you so much. Myk
I have a set of Picato half rounds on my fretted Sabre. They are fine, recorded with them and they are more towards the flat end of the scale than round. Oddly though, they are not round wounds which have been ground flat, but round wound inner windings with flat outer winding.
 19. I don't understand the OP question, why would flats be somehow unsuitable for a fretted bass?
 20.
I have flats (TI's) on two of my basses. They sound fabulous. To me, there's nothing like flats on a P bass. Tom
Really enjoyed that, thanks. Great timing
 21. Must admit I thought it was going to be the weakest show yet when I flicked through the recording until I sat and listened properly last night. I though Poet George was great, and, once I got past the Oasis singer I really liked Beady Eye. Very professional, interesting arrangements and I'm always impressed by a 4 piece horn section. I cannot be impressed by OMD, no matter how hard I try and I couldn't listen to Deep Vally all the way through either of their songs. Miguel had some good players and arrangements, wouldn't mind being able to play in a band like that. KT is great, although more my wife's thing than mine.
 22. This is more like it, actual experience, thanks. Any recordings or tracks to show off a stiff neck against a less stiff neck? Very interested in the difference in quarter-sawn necks
 23. Further Price Drop - now £649. This is now plundering my private estate!
 24. Been reading about necks and materials etc. Some people say that a stiff neck allows a deep bass sound, others say gives a brittle sound. Is this dependant on how the writers are currently feeling about how a stiff neck will cause strings to react or the actual sound they make? Having only ever played on basses with stiff necks I cannot make my own comment.
