1. 'Nother one here, used my STL900 at home many-a-time, would all the time but I have an old Superfly constantly plugged in for practice, saves the effort of getting the STL out the case, leads etc, the only reason, otherwise the STL is fine. If fact, with the 3 volume/gain type controls you can make as sensitive or otherwise as you like, more so, perhaps, than other amps.
2. I wonder how many gigs (sorry, major concerts) Wilko will do in his farewell year?
3.
MB1. They havent headlined any of the gigs ive been to?
Haha, +1!
4. Doesn't this show how little the big names are making from recordings nowadays, that so many live performances are required? Well, I say 'live'. Well, I say 'performances'.
5. Possibly, although on yours the dots are between the frets. Normally on a fretless they are bang on the fret, as that's where you play on a fretless as opposed to between. Here's mine: Bit confusing, unless yours was a fretted bass with a specially ordered ebony fingerboard, or someone has replaced the original rosewood with an ebony board. You could ask Gav at Musicman.org - if anyone knows if ebony was an option etc he will.
6. If the side dots are on the frets (as opposed to between them) you have a fretless onto which frets (and face dots) have been added. This would be why you have an extra face dot too! I have an early Sabre with an ebony fingerboard which has had the same. It's unlikely this would have been carried out at the factory, but it looks a good job (as it is on mine). Quite like the idea of an ebony board, also its pretty rare. (Can't really understand why someone would pay to have this done and not just sell it and buy a fretted version - unless they liked the bass so much..!). Can you put up a pic of the side of the neck?
7. I always feel I need to find out whether they want my input into the bass lines and generally or whether I'm to stick rigidly to what has gone before.
8.
It looks like it....
And does it have dot markers on the edge of the neck?
9. Wow, should I be pleased I can't hear the power management architecture when I'm gigging?
10.
I'm religious about Apple products and find your metaphor based upon the mutilation of the popular fruit to be deeply offensive. CB
Heh, I was going to say 'cuts to the quick' but went for the simple one. My your Cox's always Pippen.
11. Nope, its there, even checked with the man himself, saved me £100 as these are, in my opinion, essential; "Hello Greg, Thank you for your purchase. I’m sure the Streamliner will sound great with the Barefaced cabs. Yes, the Streamliner does have HPF circuitry in it design and the Thumpinator will be redundant. I hope this information is helpful. Regards, Jeff Genzler GENZ BENZ Founder"
12. Greg Nash - Hornchurch, Essex (and East London). Is there a record for the most widely gigged bass? If not could our friends at Guiness be informed?
13. Fair enough, already have those though.
14.
Possibly, I had the 900 and it had massive power but I couldn't really get a usable sound from it even after dropping the lows a little, it might be different now I have a thumpinator, but I have a shuttle 6 now which I believe chokes the same frequencies??
The Streamliner already has a similar circuit to the Thumpinator and so adding this will not make a lot of difference.
15.
Hello Here´s mine 83 Stingray - transred with rw board. Bought it with OHSC (rectangular case in white with red interior) "Strange" things on this bass, though they look totally original One more dot marker All of them seem to be mother-of-pearl Flush battery cover (i think that´s the correct word) The hole for the screw immediatelly behind the pickguard isn´t drilled Again, I have no reason to believe that they aren´t original and that the bass isn´t 100% stock.
Is that an ebony board?
16.
Now I prefer a Sterling myself...
Basses where necks are necks!
17. I suppose if they are in series one link in the chain will mean a break for all.
18.
I've read that thread a couple of times and agreed, there's some great stuff in there. I've ordered a NOS Jan Phillips 5751 from Watford Valves so I'll stick that in V1 and see what happens.
Let us know. I would expect it to have less of the effect of changing type to an ECC81.
19. Helpful response from Strings and Things (item code is M05502) but quoting £22.95. Chair pads it is, I'm afraid.
20.
New album is f***ing amazing! Beautiful! Here's a random number from it ..
Thanks
21.
http://www.loewenherzbass.com/ This is me done. I accept most basses, but this is too much.
Totally vile! Even Stanley being next to it can only help a little (by distraction). Another nomination: http://www.edroman.com/detail_sheets/washburn_bootsy_bass_d267.html (why won't the uploader attach the files I select?) We can love (or otherwise) Bootsy, but surely his basses are his, aren't they? If someone wanted to be this individual they wouldn't want to be copying, would they? This, to my mind, is why this bass is ugly.
22.
Someone's state of mind?. C'mon don't be [s]dumb[/s] (Sorry, offensive), [s]stupid[/s] (oops, and again), naive (hopefully safe?), can you get some context...oh, and humour. [s]Jeeez[/s] (Abbreviation of something probably offensive in your world, so probably should strike it out!).
Actually, as a point of order, as a 'born-again-Christian' I have a pretty thick skin and, despite, it seems, what some think, I am no more or less offended by bad language etc than anyone else. But when people use 'Jesus!' etc as a swear it cuts me to the core.
23. Fixed it for now. Asked the wife who mentioned the sticky foam things that I put under the chair legs on the laminate floor. Perfect! Quite hard and very sticky, simply cut to shape. I'll post a pic.
