Please ignore the price above, it won't let me change it. The price is now £450 ono. Ampeg PF350 amp head, with two PF115 cabs. Both of the cabs are fliptops, so the amp is attached to the top one. 350 watt head, and the rig has a beautiful B-15-like sound; it's got controlled, tight bass due to them being sealed cabs. I've been playing this with a Catalinbread SFT in front for a tiny bit of grit, and with a P-bass it's just lush. Without the grit it's still gorgeous - very clean but tubby, round sound. These PF350 heads haven't had any of the reliability problems that the PF500s have, and it's never missed a beat. All in all, a compact and light setup (and both cabs have removable castors) that can do vintage or modern sounds, thanks to the excellent tweeters in the cabs. Ed Friedland demonstrates this well in this video: https://www.youtube....h?v=Bl4cWfCY12g Overall, this is in very good condition, but there are a couple of nicks in the tolex, and some paw marks where my cat walked over it. I've tried to show these in the photos. Looking for £450 ono. Not really interested in trades, unless it's electric piano related. I don't mind splitting as long as I've got people interested in all the different bits. This is too big to ship, but I could always meet halfway, etc. I'm based around Derby / Nottingham, but often go across to East Anglia and have jaunts up to Leeds.

Due to me taking a bit of a hiatus from bass playing to focus on other projects, I've decided to sell my Hofner. I bought it on here last year, from Owen (hope he doesn't mind me reusing his pictures). The original topic can be found here. I'm asking for £400 which is what I paid for it. It's all original, and full of woody thump. There is also a hardcase, but to quote Owen's thread: "This case has more mojo than Muddy Waters. This case looks like it stepped out to the corner shop in 1969 for a packet of Rothmans and came back 30 years later after touring the States and Japan. This cased is relic'd, OK." As such, it's probably not a great idea to ship the bass, but I could always meet halfway, etc. I'm based around Derby / Nottingham, but often go across to East Anglia and have jaunts up to Leeds. Anyway, I shall let the photos do the talking... Congratulations, it's a joy to find your perfect P bass! I was lucky enough to get mine last year, which is also a CIJ. Anyway, I've not seen a medium scale P before, so pics are needed!

I have two of the PF-115 cabs and love the sound (preferred them to the 210). However, being a sealed design, they're not that loud and they don't go that low. (However, they'd easily handle low Bb, they're just not that 'subby'). The positive is that the lack of porting doesn't create any boominess. I run mine with a PF-350, as I'd read far too many posts about the PF-500 dying... Absolutely love the rig, but I play jazz, not hard rock. I'd try one in a shop and see what you think, and maybe look into the PF-800 for some extra headroom.
I'm a proud owner of a Mesa 400+ and have a Brit 4 x KT88 monster on the way and I had the transformers made extra heavy not to sound better but to upset weaklings and sanctimonious w£&@ers :-)
A 400+?!! If you want weight you should get a SVT, you big softie.
Just roll the tone off man;»}
Not the same at all. Anyway, it's a P style bass so why doesn't it already have flats on? I can't see that the through-body angle would cause any issues, as it's quite gentle on the Yamaha. I'd personally recommend TI flats, which (I think) aren't actually as stiff as most rounds and their tone is gorgeous. However, the feel certainly isn't for everyone and they are expensive, although I'm sure you could easily sell them on here if you didn't like them!

If you're looking solely at 4x10s, my preference would be the Ampeg HLF. It's the best sounding 4x10 that I've used, and together with the Orange, sounds gorgeous. However, I used to run my AD200 with the Orange 15; it's a little more old school, but a great sounding cab (and it's a bit easier to move about).

Best head/cab combo you have played and why
guybrush threepwood replied to StuOfEmbers's topic in Amps and Cabs
The best I've ever played through was an Ampeg B15. I've been chasing that tone ever since, albeit in a lighter, louder package. -
Sealed lightweight cabs, are there any out there ?
The Ampeg PF 210 is a sealed cabinet once the top is clamped down. They are 400 watts and 8 ohms. The PF 15 is also sealed.
I run two of the PF115s and it's a lovely setup; they nail the old school 'round tone' vibe, but also have a pretty good tweeter to do the modern sounds. -
That is stunning. Reasonably priced too!

So just out of wondering... if it was poorly described, was it a bargain?
