1.
Definitely talk to Shep on this one, he's used one for ages and sings its' praises.
Dood too.
2. i did quite a bit of research into compressors when I was buying a new one. Famously Ovnilab (Bongomania) has a very mixed review, with an apparent flaw/fault in stomp mode preventing him putting it near the top of his list. He knows what he is talking about and does not seem to identify the issue the Amazon review does. http://www.ovnilab.com/reviews/tcnovadyn.shtml no talk of missing "mojo" or issues generally with digital compressors, indeed Bongo makes the point that while maybe not as quirky as some analog units, it doesn't sound digital at all. I dont know why TC discontinued. Haven't heard whether this is because of an issue. Also I note that the reviewer is using it for guitar, maybe a different impact? I am interested in picking up a 2nd hand one.
3. If you had to name the "ultimate" bass, this has got to stand a chance of being it. I salute you and bow down to whoever has the money and balls to buy this.
4.
I saw them at Edinburgh Corn Exchange a few years back and they were awesome! Would dearly love to see them again!
It's Bill's tone and physicality that i love. He's a great musician but he has a way of playing that I love. i saw them at the Venue in Edinburgh in 87-88 Introduce Yourself tour with Chuck, and then Network (Tollcross) in 1990 on Real Thing tour (I am sure Sepultura supported??). I saw them many times again including some of the best gigs ever at the Barrowlands. It was great to see them again at the Corn Exchange in 2009.
5.
As is this from the same gig. And Anne Dudley is the coolest person in the whole world.
that is brilliant.
6.
Thanks Rich, Yes you are probably correct in thinking that about the volume. It is still loud and can handle some medium sized gigs and sounds great DI'd. Its a pro piece of kit ideal for pro muso's on ships, functions and the likes. Thanks for the advice.
no probs mate. I had a Workingman pro and could only dream of the Redhead. Top quality kit.
7. looks like that took 15 mins. good deal.
8. i used an SWR combo for many years. Great kit, very good price. My only feedback is that these days everyone seems obsessed with volume and headroom. Your ad seems to focus on a negative in saying it's not loud enough (I assume you are in a death metal band?!) Maybe that's worrying people? It shouldn't cause these things should be more than loud enough for most small to medium gigs.
9. one of the great moments - when i first tried my tecamp puma with my midget t compact stack, i literally cried. It sounded like what basses sound like in my head, but i could carry the whole lot in a oner from the car!
10.
What's the problem? Get one of your kids to buy you an early Christmas present.
I can imagine the look on Mark's face when a 5 year old wee Scottish lassie comes in looking for a Take it Away deal on a Wood and Tronics 5.
11. Thank Jesus I am 5 hours away
12. Similar things happening in academia. We have industrialised learning, producing great technicians who fill up conference after conference and journal after journal but there's very little original thought or wisdom. I ain't too worried cause I am not sure this is sufficient to suppress true genius. I am not a pro musician (or an academic) so I don't know whether all these technical experts adversely affect the system but I still buy the music I buy and don't seem to see any direct impact on the output.
13. cool, good job
14. that's a real nice live recording mate. Good sound. What's that bass? looks like a cross between a stingray and a reverend? good stuff, not been to the WRB for a while.
15. lovely lovely
16. i really really like them - i have a corvette $$5 - but think they're neither cool nor indeed fashionable. What they have is a really fantastic tone that cuts through. Suppose that means they should be cool? To my mind they look 90's.
17. takes all sorts and some dont change their strings ever. I like sparkle and since I like Legacy's at only £7.99 a set I do every month or two whatever (less than 100 hours?), more frequent when recording and gigging regularly (sweaty fingers!).
18.
Could it be fitted into a pedal? Then you could use it on all of them, or anything else for that matter Harry
John East does a retro in a pedal which would resolve the problem. Not sure that pedal gets as much love as it should. However not as good a solution when someone already has it in internal pre form.
19.
Arhh, to be 15/16 again.
i am sure its 5/4
20. nice, real nice
21.
Only to tell us it's too loud!
well I'd be happy to swap him for an Ashdown or a Peavey TNT
22. i would love it if he came back to tell us he's bought an £5K Hellborg rig.
23. an amazing wee box - I only let mine go out of necessity and have missed it ever since.
