  1. Same, when he's playing melodically I quite enjoy it but there's too much of the slappityslappityslappity in most of the stuff of his I've listened to for me to get into it.
  2. I got put off iTunes and iPhones when I had one back in about 2009, and I loathed iTunes with a fiery passion. I had a work iPhone in 2017-2019 but feel no desire to have one again as a personal phone, and iTunes is definitely a part of that.
  3. Spotify because I use it for music, podcasts and audiobooks and it's handy to have all that in one place.

  5. I've gone down a bit of a rabbit hole...
  6. Time for Hayseed Dixie yet?
  7. Sick of playing Go Your Own Way? Are you sure you want to join this band?
  8. Break a leg!
  9. Or if you don't nail all the audition material then at least demonstrate that you're nearly there and are prepared to put in the effort. When I auditioned for my current band they just sent me a set list of 21 songs but didn't ask me to prepare any of them in particular, so I worked my arse off and made sure I was there or thereabouts with virtually all of them. Apparently it worked because I'm nearly 2 years in now.
  10. Indeed, Fender for one has so many minor variations on a limited number of themes that anything they can do to make one model stand out above the crowd is worth a try.
  11. Presumably only almost unlimited because eventually the volume will be 0?
  12. We don't bother usually. Maybe we've just been blessed playing in pubs with decent lighting though.
  13. I assume you're looking at playing with others including a drummer? For that, and assuming your drummer has an acoustic kit, I think you need an amp rated at at least 200W to give you some headroom; you might get by with 100W but it probably won't sound good if you have to push it and that could damage the speakers. If you like Ampeg the Rocket Bass 115 would be worth a look, or the Fender Rumble 200, Trace Elliot Elf combo, Ashdown Studio 210, etc. Most of these will give you about 130W with no extension cabinet, which would be good for rehearsals, but could be expanded to 200W or more with another cabinet when you're ready to gig.
  14. I've recently been loving Krist Novoselic's tone with 3rd Secret and would happily have that for myself.
  15. Aren't Fender strings made by D'Addario though?
  16. NatWest Barclays Midland Lloyds - Manic Street Preachers
  17. Not with that particular combo, but there are certainly combos out there that effectively have a standard head in a cabinet with a speaker enclosure and you can see the lead from one of the speaker cable sockets disappearing elsewhere into the box, for example on this old Markbass combo:
  18. Stunning! GLWTS!
  19. Very nice, I love my V7 and think whoever gets this will be very happy. GLWTS!
  20. You can see for yourself: He has other singles and EPs available but this is the only album I can see.
  21. Plenty of excellent replies here. I can highly recommend the Focusrite Scarlett range of interfaces - I'm using a 3rd generation 2i2 and it does everything I need it to do. You can either plug your instrument straight into it using your usual instrument cable, or if you want the specific sound from your amp you can DI that into it. There are plenty of DAW packages out there, but a couple of good free ones are Cakewalk by Bandlab and Audacity. The latter is pretty simple but does the job, especially if all of your amp and effects are in front of the interface, but if you want to experiment with different tones then you could use Cakewalk and install VST plugins, which emulate different effects, amps, speakers, etc.
  22. I think staying out of Bradford is just generally good advice though... Seriously though, I haven't been into Bradford city centre for probably 15 years, and a lot of our gigs are in the outskirts (sort of Cleckheaton-ish way) but I don't remember it being particularly car-friendly. I sent a message to a city centre bar in Leeds the other day enquiring after a possible gig, but seeing what they've done to the city centre recently I'm slightly relieved not to have heard back from them.
  23. Apparently not 👊
