  1. I stand corrected!
  2. I believe the 900W heads are wide as well with the EVO IVs
  3. You could always get a Harley Benton MB4-SBK and then mod the hell out of it: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_mb_4_sbk_deluxe_series.htm
  4. Something from 1978. A black Fender Precision with maple board would be nice - this would be ideal, if somone can lend me £2.4k: Or a natural finish Fender Jazz would do nicely.
  5. By being pretty crap and having to concentrate, which precludes most movement other than head nodding and foot tapping.
  6. I wonder if their main market these days is their guitar cabs - if their YouTube content is anything to go by that would appear to be the case anyway!
  7. Yes, in fact Roger Sadowsky even recommends retrofitting noise cancelling pickups. You could even fit Sadowsky humbucking pickups to keep the original character of the bass: https://www.thomann.de/gb/sadowsky_j_j_pickup_set_5_nc.htm, although at nearly £300 you might get away with just doing the bridge pickup since having both pickups on full should act as a humbucker, but that assumes you never solo the neck pickup.
  8. Having suffered an amp failure mid-gig I now take no chances and have spare pretty much everything: bass, amp, leads/cables, strings (a used set for emergency use) and as many plectra as my holder will hold. The only thing I don't have a spare of is an XLR cable, as the DI is usually the last resort in the size of venue we normally play and I haven't had to use the one I have yet fortunately (touch wood).
  9. If you like the Sadowsky apart from the noise maybe check out a secondhand Sire V7 (or a V5 if you're not fussed about having an active bass)
  10. When I was 22 with some mates from school, bit that lasted a summer. Next band wasn't for another 23 years, so may as well be considered my first; certainly my first proper band anyway.
  11. It gives no rationale for the decision to include any of them, i.e. what have they done this year to make them one of the top bass players of this year, which makes it a bit pointless.
  12. If we tried that approach our set list would comprise about three songs 😂 we run on the basis that there's enough songs that everyone loves that we'll all put up with the odd stinker if the other four want it badly enough
  13. I've not come across any issues with my active bass running into my PC, but then my setup including the bass would be different to yours. If happily lend you my bass to test it but unfortunately we're not in close enough to just pop round sort of proximity.
  14. Is this one of the RSD MetroExpress basses, or the new SMX ones with the roasted necks? If the former they were notorious for having shielding and other electronic issues, which may or may not be contributing to your issue.
  15. Go Your Own Way - Fleetwood Mac
  16. I wouldn't say I liked every song in our set list (the set opener when I joined was deathly dull and has now thankfully been binned) but those I don't like I either power through if they're at least involved to play, or zone out if it's just three minutes playing crotchet roots of the same four chords.
  17. Bit heavy for me but that is an absolute bargain!
  18. Pretty sure this isn't much cheaper than the usual Amazon price, but a two-pack of D'Addario strings is 30% off RRP. Every little helps, and all that. https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0006IQLG8/
  19. Looks like Harley Benton have a few options that you might consider if you wanted a brand new one.
  20. Agreed, and I'm liking the combination of Lee and @CiciBass on their All About The Bass series when that happens, it's a lot less blokey and more fun than with Nathan King.
  21. Regular gig at the Mill Valley Tap Room in Cleckheaton near Bradford. Sold out ticketed event and always a good crowd, plus we'll be finished in time for me to get home for smooches with the missus at midnight and to mock whoever's on Jools Holland this year.
  22. Plus it's a convenient point the day after Thanksgiving in the US when the feral amongst the populace can have their Purge moment while cheaping out on Christmas presents.
  23. Or just "pre-Christmas 'sale' week" since Black Friday is related to a US holiday
  24. Yep, still on Spotify and that track sounds lovely
