This Trace Elliot ELF never ceases to amaze me!!!!

I believe it would. I run mine through a Two10S and I haven't had the volume past halfway yet. -
Tonight was... interesting. We were second to last on a bill after a GNR tribute act, whose bassist was the musical organiser for the event and whose equipment we were all sharing. The bass rig in question was a Darkglass Alpha-Omega and Barefaced Four10. Except the poor guy was rushed to hospital on Friday night so wasn't around to give the lowdown as his band pulled out. I watched one of the earlier acts, an Oasis tribute, and their bass sound through the Darkglass/Barefaced was immense, with a Fender Ultra Jazz being their bassist's weapon of choice – things are good in the Oasis tribute band game it seems! The band before us was a last minute replacement Blink-182 tribute, whose bassist brought his own amp. I'm not sure what happened between them packing up and us setting up, but I could barely hear myself through the rig. Even crouched in front of the speaker and with the master volume maxed I should have been deafened, but not even close. So I was largely relying on muscle memory – again – to get me through where I didn't have a clear run without being buried under our guitarist in the mix. To be fair she and our keyboardist, who were on the other side of the stage to me, also said the mix was rubbish, so at least it wasn't just me that got shafted. Still, apparently we went down a storm and have been asked to play the same event next year. Which is nice. It was also the first time my little boy (he's at the front wearing a Power Rangers costume in the top photo) has seen me play and he really enjoyed it – he even asked for my autograph when we got home!

Am I missing something or have you somehow found a way to wrangle 500W out of a 200W amp? Or are you talking about a future 500W amp? Sorry, not enough coffee yet...

There is if needs be. I understand other bands have played there recently with similar setups to ours, so possibly a hired-in sub might give a bit more headroom?

Yeah, I think that's pretty much the conclusion we're reaching

We've a gig coming up in December at a venue we've played at before, but unfortunately it's had a change of ownership since last time, and the old owners took their £5k PA system with them (understandably!). We've been asked to provide our own PA but we're not sure if what we'll have will be enough. For context it's a 300 capacity bar. Noise makers we'll have are: 2 x 1000W Behringer active speakers for vocals and keyboards Unmiked drum kit My Ashdown ABM600 + Barefaced Two10S Boss Katana 100W guitar combo A recent photo from the back of the venue is below, with the stage in the distance. The question is will our PA be sufficient? We don't have any subwoofers but if needs be could buy one.

Seems to work OK on Firefox mobile.

Cory Wong live set (with new bassist)

Oh dang! And I thought Joe Dart played Dean Town quickly. -
I don't think I've ever been ready to give up, but I did have a fairly long period when I was in the depths of depression when I just couldn't look at my instruments. I wanted to, and wanted to pick them up and play them, but I just couldn't get up the enthusiasm to do it. Joining a band last year has definitely given me a fresh reason to keep going, albeit we don't get together to rehearse and gig all that often. Perhaps I need a second band...

One wouldn't be in a position to care though, tbf, and it's a very rock & roll way to go

How was Your rehearsal last morning or night ?

I've watched a few live versions to get a feel for how to play it, and it's always impressive to see the whole crowd bouncing. I'm not sure the working men's clubs of West Yorkshire will have the same sort of reaction, but it would be interesting to see if they did 🤣 -
My mum used to work as a bank cashier many years ago, and when I started working in retail jobs she said one of the main things to look out for was whether the Bank of England text was embossed or not.

The debate is raging as to where in the set it should go. Opening second set? Closing the first? -
Yeah, I wish!

I managed to find a little hack where I finagled the pick into the bend of the first joint of my index finger, which makes it a much more solid anchor so I can focus on the speed rather than if my pick is going to go flying somewhere. That and simplifying the bass line from what's on the recording.

I play it like this

Aren't £50 notes plastic now? Or is it just £20 and below?
-
That may well be more to do with how many Elfs have been bought new compared to the others, rather than a disproportionately large proportion of Elfs being moved on.
-
I stand to be corrected but doesn't the in-built compression in the Elf increase as you increase the gain not the volume? I believe that's what TE claim anyway. I've never pushed mine hard enough to notice so am happy to be educated on this front.

Holy moly!

Not too bad a rehearsal yesterday. Ran through two new songs completely, one of which will be in our set next weekend. I was the only one who had done the homework for the third song, the notorious Club Foot, but we worked out we could simplify the drum track significantly after realising that even Kasabian don't play it live like the album version, so hopefully we can have that one wrapped up for our NYE gig. We spent a good chunk of the session working out how to get our guitarist's Boss Katana combo into a mixing desk, and have realised that we're going to have to rely on the organisers having a long enough jack-jack lead so she can go through the phones out socket. I'm lucky that I'll be going through a communal bass rig that's provided, with either a Markbass or Darkglass head and a Barefaced Four10 - I think I can deal with that, and at least saves me having to lug a load of gear around with just my basses and pedals required.
