  1. GLWTS, I love mine!
  2. We did it for a laugh at one rehearsal, nailed it on the first try and it's been in our set ever since!
  3. I finally settled on 45-105s after years of experimenting due to the increased tightness - both tonally and physically. Alas increasing pain/numbess in my hands means I will probably have to go back to at least 45-100s, or even 40-100s, for future string sets so I'm not gripping/pulling so hard (insert your own wombling joke of choice here).
  4. If you've bought an amp with both preamp and power stages that'll be because you like those choices though. Knowing there's an option that removes the need for a preamp stage is useful, but I still like the choices Ashdown and Trace have made with the amps I use.
  5. I'm also curious about the pickup options. While I love the tone of the stock ones in my V7 they are very quiet compared to the ceramic pickup in my P-bass. Obviously I can get around that by using the preamp to boost the volume but it's still annoying.
  6. It is indeed elsewhere on the channel: (I'd seen this before which is why I knew to look for it)
  7. Ad blockers are your friend. I use Privacy Badger but there are plenty of other good free ones out there. You should also be able to configure your browser to block pop-ups.
  8. Or "I'm not [insert deplorable trait here], but..."
  9. In the case of BC I don't think @CiciBass needs to be worried, especially given some of the rubbish that gets talked on here! Elsewhere, particularly on FB, I've found that while a lot is as you describe, some of the "delete if not allowed" crowd overlaps with the "I'm just saying" crowd where they're just daring people to disagree with them so they can cry freedom of speech, cancel culture, or some other bollocks.
  10. Do you definitely need those exact cabs? As others have said there are more modern ones that won't wreck your back that will probably do the job nicely.
  11. This was the second gig we played this month in Huddersfield (albeit the previous one was in Berry Brow) so there's definitely still interest in it!
  12. A pox on people on the internet who make assumptions about content creators based on their appearance.
  13. Cheers! It was definitely fun despite the challenges.
  14. Sorry for spamming, I hadn't noticed the page had flipped back one and I'd posted the thing multiple times. This not being able to delete your own posts thing is rubbish.
  15. Here's a video from last night showing the close quarters, taken by the guitarist's husband who was stood at the bar. The lady with the green hair tie and her mate in the blue dress were the perpetrators of the bass to the head incidents.
  16. After somehow managing to squeeze a five-piece band into a space about 8' square last night, and having hit a couple of people in the head because of the close quarters, a headless bass sounds very appealing for smaller venues.
  17. Even Jamie Carragher thinks our working area is a bit cosy... Back to Huddersfield to play at The Plumbers Arms. Got lost three times on the way there (thanks, Google Maps!) but fortunately our ability to setup was hampered by the pub being full of people watching the Newcastle v Liverpool game so I wasn't late. We had barely enough room to fit all our gear and us with not enough tables being moved and the pub being rammed because of the bank holiday. My entire rig (bar my pedal board) is hidden by our guitarist Jen and her big coat, but it comprised my Sire V7, Trace Elliot Elf head and Barefaced Two10S in portrait mode. I was told to turn down twice, so I could barely hear myself as I was stood in between the PA speaker and the guitar amp, but muscle memory got me through again. I only managed to brain two people with the head of my bass, but both were gracious about it and promised not to sue us. The landlord even tried to book us for another gig before Christmas but for various reasons this isn't feasible, so hopefully we'll play there again in the new year.
  18. It very much appears to be. As the original isn't on FB any more I'm guessing someone's flipped it.
  19. This has come several months too soon for me, unfortunately, as I'd quite like a second one of these. GLWTS, fellow Wirralian!
  20. Not a P-bass but I did play a Vintera 70s Jazz, and while it was excellent I preferred my Squier VM 70s Jazz. Make of that what you will.
  21. Yep, totally uncool, no respectable artist would ever do that...
  22. I was interested when I messaged but have had second thoughts. Naughty me.
