  1. This. Our guitarist uses the 100W version (usually in 50W mode) and she has tons of tonal options available - too many, she might say.
  2. My P-bass is known (by me, mostly) as "The Beast". Other than that no. As I've mentioned in another thread, when I eventually get my grubby mits on a Sadowsky MetroExpress (the upcoming Chinese ones with the proper logo) then, as it's been my unicorn for several years, including when they were still made in Japan, it shall be known as Eleanor after the Shelby GT500 in Gone In 60 Seconds.
  3. Yep, that's my understanding as well. The other party in China wasn't using the name so Roger was hopeful that he'd be able to get it back quickly. I believe it was only an issue because the new MEs are made in China.
  4. I think I saw something about July, although it will be a while after that before I can afford it, even with the plan to sell my V7 to assist.
  5. As someone who plays both finger style and with a pick in our set, I guarantee that the only person who will consciously notice any difference is you.
  6. At the moment it's a Sadowsky MetroExpress*, of which I had hoped to get a MIJ one but they're like hens' teeth, but with the recent changes announced for the MIC ones I am determined to make one mine. As a unicorn it will obviously have to be called Eleanor (points to anyone who gets the reference). *Yes I have limited ambition
  7. My favourite is my current Ashdown ABM which is "my" first grown-up amp (previous ABM not counting because it was on loan, although it was great until its age caught up with it). It does exactly what I want it to do and sounds amazing. Apart from the Hohner combo that came with my first bass (also a Hohner), of which the only pro is that it was slightly better than having no amp at all, I'm lucky in that I haven't owned a bad one so far.
  8. OK Roger Sadowsky has replied in the thread, it is happening. *flails*
  9. Just seen some alleged prototypes in a Facebook post for the next iteration of the Chinese-made Sadowsky MetroExpress line. If this is legit (the FB group is one Roger Sadowsky regularly comments in so I'm hopeful he doesn't contradict it) then I'm officially saving for one of these. https://www.facebook.com/groups/2413733079/permalink/10160376228903080/
  10. The Barefaced 12 ohm option on the Two10S makes things interesting
  11. It is a great ready reckoner. Is there a possible enhancement with the minimum load rating for the amp taken into consideration? Does that make a lot of difference?
  12. Precisely about this long. If I ever lose weight it'll hang a bit lower.
  13. Just got me one of these and love it. GLWTS!
  14. Somewhere Only We Know - Keane
  15. Levitating - Dua Lipa
  16. I'm quite partial to the CAR/tort combo so that gets my vote.
  17. Starts considering which kidney to sell... Such a shame I'm tapped out at the moment as I'd love this (plus, as a West Kirby native, it'd be good to have a trip back to the Wirral to see how much more of it is covered by retirement flats...). Come on, the lottery win! GLWTS!
  18. All About That Base - Meghan Trainor
  19. Yep, I think that's the one 😁
  20. It was very similar to that, but it had a P neck pickup
  21. Played a set at the wedding of our guitarist yesterday. Tiny back of a barn so my ABM and Two10S were probably overkill (going to just use the Elf next time in a similar setting, I think), but got some nice compliments on my playing and it was a lot of fun, especially as we got the groom up to play a few of our easier songs. The other band playing did their first set as an Oasis tribute but then did some awesome covers for their second set. Being the nerd that I am I was pleased to see their bassist using a Barefaced cab, but the One10, which was surprisingly loud but struggled a little against two guitars. He was also playing an unusual Fender bass which looked like an Aerodyne but with a pickguard and a control plate – any ideas?
  22. I'd be tempted to just play the open string while having a drink or scrolling on my phone, but would probably try and make it like I was interested.
  23. I've just been in exactly the same position as you and went for the Elf. I don't regret my decision one bit, it sounds lovely.
  24. If you're just beginning and have a really tight budget then you're unlikely to get anything particularly quality brand new, so start looking secondhand. I hate to sound opportunistic but I actually have a cracking secondhand practice amp for sale on here (click on "Trace Elliot Boxer 65" in my signature) which, as it appears you're in my area you're welcome to try, but it will good for home practice, coffee shop gigs, etc. That would leave you £220 for a bass, cables, etc. This package from Thomann would give you what you'd need to complete a very basic setup: https://www.thomann.de/gb/harley_benton_pb_20lh_sbk_bundle_set.htm Your can buy clip-on tuners cheaply, and you can experiment with plectrums, strings, etc in due course.
  25. Time for a letter to Dave Grohl? https://www.theguardian.com/music/2016/mar/24/dave-grohl-writes-to-cornwall-council-to-allow-local-band-to-practise
