  1. Anyone else getting flashbacks of The Mary Whitehouse Experience?
  2. Six guitars? JFC
  3. Based solely on the bridge it's a 1st Gen, 2nd Gen have the hand-me-up bridge from the V3 (which is still decent to be fair).
  4. That was also a possibility for me
  5. I think mine will mainly be used to avoid having to drag my ABM to rehearsals
  6. There was some provocation though, I believe. For once we weren't just being bloodthirsty colonisers 😂
  7. I'm happy to meet halfway if it helps, Manchester isn't that far away from me.
  8. Personally I can't stand anything in my ears, eg earbuds, and on the few occasions I have tried them they've had a tendency to fall out. Think I'll be sticking to an old school approach for the foreseeable future.
  9. It's definitely a mood improver for me too. When I was in the depths of depression a few years ago one of the signs of how bad things were was that I didn't want to pick up a bass. Thankfully those days seem to be behind me for now.
  10. If you're playing covers you have more licence to add your own embellishments than if you were in a tribute band where you'd be looking to stick as closely to the original as possible.
  11. Ah, if this had been available a week ago I might have a different new gear post just gone up. GLWTS!
  12. Yeah, when I decided I was going to bite the bullet and get a backup amp, based on reviews and personal recommendations there was only ever going to be one choice to be honest. I've only had the chance to play it through headphones so far but I'm excited to get it loud.
  13. Yesterday was Happy New (Backup) Amp Day for me! It will probably do me for any gigs in smaller or less salubrious venues as well, but even as a backup it'll do nicely for letting me hear myself on stage while being able to DI out to the PA - last time I had to DI out was when the amp blew, and we had no monitors so I could barely hear myself, so definitely don't want to be in that position again! Initial indications are that this is a cracker, and I can't wait to try it out with the band at rehearsal on Sunday!
  14. Yeah, he told me he only works two days a week, and that he'd do the work he and I had discussed for free if he was in the workshop on his own on a weekend and he was bored.
  15. If you're in a covers band play it however you want as long as it sounds right. If you're in a tribute band then play it as the original artist does.
  16. Yeah, I have this issue where I'm often playing by feel, which I guess is the aim. When I have to see the fretboard I tend to just lean over until I can see well enough. My problem comes when practising while sitting. If I don't use a strap my tum will push the bass off my leg; if I do then the bass is angled towards me to such an extent that long stretches become uncomfortable.
  17. Honourable mention to the late, great Chester Bennington
  18. As others have said I think I'd aim to pick up a Squier P/PJ unless I could find something better within budget and the timescale.
  19. There's a few, not necessarily complicated but still fun. Off the top of my head... Go Your Own Way Common People Chelsea Dagger Living on a Prayer
  20. I love this bassline, probably my all time favourite. To quote Mick Fleetwood from the Behind The Music documentary about Rumours, "you're a monster, John!"
  21. Oh thank goodness it's not just me! If it's something I haven't had a chance to practice recently I always panic that I'll have forgotten a song, but so far (touch wood) as soon as we start I suddenly remember I'm not a complete numpty and do actually know how to play it.
