If I'd recommended a friend and they'd botched it through being unprepared I'd be having Words with said friend and not recommending them again.

I assume this is Ashdown's version of the Ampeg Micro VR rig? There isn't a lot of detail on the Ashdown website. They seem to strongly imply that both head and cab are rated at 250W @ 4 ohm, although the manual contradicts this by saying 180W @ 4 ohm:

Guitarists... why are they such knackers

Anyone got a Barefaced x10 series with the new tweeter option?

If anyone can be relied upon to do the requisite amount of tinkering it'll be Mr Claber. -
Band interaction has left me thinking whats the point....

If there's not enough time for you as established bassist to rehearse, how difficult will it be for them to a) find a replacement and b) get them up to speed in the same amount of time? I'm not sure I'd want to stick around if I were you. -

I'm not the most technically gifted musician, so when I was auditioning for my first proper band (my current one) I worked my butt off to learn 20+ songs in 3 weeks in my spare time, which with my various other commitments was not the easiest task. To have done nothing in a month is just unacceptable, however talented you are, as is just not turning up to rehearsals, so I reckon get shot of both of them and find some other folks who are actually prepared to commit. -
Practice amp upgrade (is one even needed?)

I have this for sale if you're interested... -
Damn, wish I'd have seen this before I went to Sheffield yesterday.

It's all good. Your sister looked relieved when I reassured her that this was probably the last time...

Price drop to £70 Trace Elliot Boxer 65W combo amp. Owned since new in about 1998 when Trace was still UK-based and -manufactured, bought from the sadly-defunct Electro Music in Doncaster. This is a cracking little amp and served me well for decades of home practice, but alas now is just collecting dust and so would benefit from a new home. Pretty simple layout: gain control, 3-band EQ including mid boost switch, and volume. The 65W mosfet preamp does break up quite nicely when you crank the gain if you want things to sound a bit dirty (ooh, suits you sir!), and the 12" speaker does nicely. Collection only as I don't have sufficient boxes to pack and ship (also this thing, being a bit old school, is rather heavy!), but happy to meet within a reaslonable distance (say an hour from home) to hand over in person.

Another month, another working men's club. This was very Phoenix Nights. We all made some heinous mistakes during the first set, bit we were on it for the second and encores, so it ended up being a good night. I got some great compliments on my playing and tone, and I'm loving this setup with the ABM Evo IV, Two10S and V7. One (admittedly quite inebriated) chap even declared me to be the best bass player he's ever heard with the exception of John Entwistle, which I'll take! 🤣 And the most attractive woman there by several hundred miles made a point of saying thank you to me for us putting on a great show, so that was just the cherry on the icing on the cake. The only downside was not getting home until 12.30am, not getting to sleep until 2, but then having to be up at 6.30 to hand off @Merton's broken amp to his sister. Fortunately Mrs Greg let me have a lie in until 10.30, so a good start to my long weekend.

Indeed! My first gig after a 20-odd year hiatus was in a 500-capacity venue so I was bricking it. Fortunately there were only about 30 people in it so it could have been worse.

Is there a notification that can be enabled for when one is following an item for sale that lets you know when it's been sold/withdrawn? A couple of times I've thought to save for something and followed it, but then when I've had the money I've gone to search for it again (and that's a faff in itself as you can't have a following filter for for-sale items) it's been sold.

Alex doesn't strike me as the sort of person who'd just add one in willy nilly, I suspect he'll have done a fair amount of tinkering to get it to be worthwhile adding to the range. -
DVLA have regular meetings to weed out potentially rude number plates so they'll never be issued.

Well, that was awful. Were the lyrics written by Chat GPT?

Leaving the union flag in green? Not sure that would go down well in certain parts.

White and green says more Nigeria than Ireland to me. Not a fan either way.

Used the new ABM at rehearsal on Sunday and got lots of positive feedback from the band. I take this as proof positive that I've found my setup.

I did find it amusing that Ian from SBL basically had to apologise for them discussing metal basslines while playing some boutique nonsense (an F Bass and a Wal from what I remember).
