  1. Probably a good plan, especially where my wife grew up they're known as "circle jerk" 🤣
  2. Aren't Circle K a convenience store chain?
  3. OMG. As much of a bargain as this is, and as much as I need/want this, I'm still paying off my last amp purchase. GLWTS!
  4. I believe there's a certain chap from Liverpool does this. Can't quite remember his name though. McCar-something. Here's the scruffy oik playing them on a rooftop of all places!
  5. Cracking band. I can't remember how I came across them but I'm very happy I did.
  6. I've had a very brief play with the compressor on my ABM and can't say I was that impressed, and also found that the volume was reduced. I think I'll stick to my pedal compressor unless I'm pedalless for any reason.
  7. I think this is what's known as utter cobblers. Technical term, obviously.
  8. Same, it all sounds a bit sketchy
  9. That's certainly one way of looking at what she's doing...
  10. Penny-pinching most like, and an egregious case of false advertising. Regardless of the fact that you've already replaced the speaker I'd still be contacting Ashdown and the retailer to complain that you've been sold a pup.
  11. Same, don't make me regret my recent purchase!
  12. Give Up The Funk (Tear The Roof Off The Sucker) - Parliament
  13. Laney started out as a bass amp manufacturer, I believe. I was considering getting the Digbeth DB-500H before I got my Ashdown as they sound awesome, so that could be worth you checking out.
  14. If you're not looking to use it to practice with others then it's not strictly necessary to have a decent sounding one, although I concede that it makes the whole practising experience a lot nicer. I've moved pretty much exclusively to practising through headphones these days, but I occasionally get my little (but very heavy) Trace Elliot combo out to annoy the neighbours. Honestly, any of the other major manufacturers (Ampeg, Ashdown, Hartke, GK, etc.) will give you something different to play with, so if you can get to a reasonably large shop you could take three or four in and try them out.
  15. I would second Ashdown. They weren't really on my radar either until I borrowed a ABM EVO from @Merton and I was blown away, especially through the Barefaced Two10S cab I bought from @thebrig. I'm now on a EVO-IV purchased from @walshy and am looking forward to trying it out with the Barefaced at band practice in a couple of weeks. Keep an eye on the for sale section on this site as Barefaced cabs and good heads (stop sniggering at the back there) become available quite regularly.
  16. While I could do with losing some weight I don't think that would be a sustainable option.
  17. And they won't stop playing it either.
  18. Are you including the Jeff Buckley version in your assessment here? Because I'd have to strongly disagree with you if you are.
  19. I'm finally in the club proper! After my borrowed ABM-500-EVO went poof mid-gig I've managed to secure an ABM-600-EVO-IV to replace it. Not had a chance to do anything more than DI it through my Focusrite Scarlett and headphones yet but that makes me excited to play with it properly at band practice next weekend 😁
  20. It's my wife's and yes I am
  21. Fortunately being absolutely skint is also a good remedy for GAS 🤣
  22. Inspired by, and not wanting to hijack, @Smanth's similar thread, I've finally reached a point with my rig where I can take a breather before I allow myself to succumb to GAS again. It's come somewhat earlier than planned thanks to an amp failure at the weekend, but behold (and please ignore the mess in the room)! At some point I might want to add another Two10S as a backup for the current one, or to supplement it if we start playing larger gigs, and I will be looking for something like a Trace Elliot Elf as a backup for the ABM, but I think I'm happy with my amp, cab, pedal and instrument menagerie for now (the Sire also does the job but it's still in its case downstairs at the moment). It's a nice feeling that any future purchases will be just for fun rather than necessity, e.g. do I need a 5-string/fretless/etc., how many other pedals can I experiment with, and so on. (No, the amp and cab aren't plugged in as my practice setup is through the Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 you might be able to make out in the heap on the desk and out through headphones.)
