  1. Summer of 69 - Bryan Adams
  2. Yeah, we split ours equally among the five of us
  3. Welcome! Where in God's Own Country are you?
  4. Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds - The Beatles
  5. I'm tempted by such an arrangement myself, our singist does like coming within my potential strike zone. I'm not sure a P-bass to the skull would go down well!
  6. I'd love this to be still available this time next month, but at that price I'm not hopeful. GLWTS!
  7. Unfortunately postponed owing to our guitarist having food poisoning. Thankfully rescheduled in a month's time.
  8. OK, in chronological order... Hohner Rockwood (came with my Hohner Rockwood Pro bass as a package) Laney combo of some description (it was a while ago, I forget) Trace Elliott Boxer 65 Marshall Super Bass Marshall JCM800 4x12 Ashdown AVM EVO (on semi-permanent loan from @Merton) SWR Workingman's 2x10T Ashdown MAG 4x10 Barefaced Two10S
  9. Possibly the shortest list yet, but in order (bolded with still own): Hohner Squier Wesley Squier Sire
  10. Mmm, I miss my Marshall Super Bass. Alas I had to sell it just as we went into lockdown in 2020 (I was robbed too, only got £900 for it! 😢) but it had just had a complete internal overhaul by someone who specialises in vintage valve amps so it sounded freaking amazing.
  11. If you're new to bass it would definitely be worth getting someone more experienced to run you through how to set it up properly. There are plenty of online guides (this is Fender's) but if you're not sure what you're doing then seeing someone else do it and be able to ask questions will be invaluable. Hopefully you'll soon feel confident enough to do your own setups.
  12. I always believed that he was pitching his courses towards wannabe session players. I managed to score a lifetime membership a couple of years ago so I tend to dip in and out whenever something particularly interesting comes along.
  13. I have a Barefaced Two10S and it sounds pretty old school by design
  14. Ah, the Imprecision Bass 😃
  15. How come you're selling it so soon after buying it?
  16. Venue-provided Markbass or have you been spending again? 😆
  17. Oh nice. I used to live in Redruth but never managed to find a band down that way unfortunately. I did find two excellent repairers down there that I miss having available though - Tube N' Truss in St Dennis is where I used to take my vintage Marshall valve amp for servicing and repairs (I miss that thing) and I used to go to Julyan Wallis (him off of BBC's The Repair Shop) near Penzance for instrument setups, etc. I used to work with a drummer in Truro, and while he might not be looking for another band he might know of others who are. I'll see if I can get in touch with him.
  18. Whereabouts in Cornwall are you?
  19. I tend to orientate my 2x10 depending on where I am in the room. If it's long and narrow and I'm set up at the narrow end I'll have the cab horizontal; if I'm on the long side then I'll use it vertically, even though the amp hangs off the sides a bit.
  20. Tbf I only know because I saw an interview with Paul McCartney years ago where he was defending Linda against accusations of being inept because she'd only play one note on her Moog at a time (the defence being that that's all you can do apparently), and he went off on a tangent about the pronunciation.
  21. Definitive answer: So clear as mud then...
  22. I love you can spot the point in the interview where someone obviously told him how Moog should be pronounced
  23. Yeah, the last music shop I spent any time in was Dawsons in Leeds, sadly now closed as of December last year. I think that means all of the dedicated music shops around here I've been into at one time or another (not that many) have now closed. Electro Music in Doncaster closed after going downhill in its later years, and the shop where I bought my beloved P-bass, Scheerer's of Leeds, is now a Costa having closed in 2013 after trading for c.140 years. When I get a chance I'll have to go into the Rock Factory in Castleford, even if I just come away with a set of strings or some picks.
  24. Like A Virgin - Maradona
